Update to version 1.008
This is a fairly hefty update, involving a total overhaul of the dynamic weather
system, the timetables, wheel-slip, a minor update for the HUD, improved
authenticity of some of the 377 functionality and a complete reworking of the
demo mode, now referred to as the AI driver.
In addition, there has been further work on the cab lighting, more done to
brighten stations in night services and the user guide PDF has been updated and
expanded. Miscellaneous bugs have also been identified and fixed.
AI driver:
The original demo mode was put together in the tradition of Konami's 1981
classic 'Frogger' e.g. it would play the game but not very well!
This has now been replaced with a competent AI system which drives like a pro
and kisses the station stopping points with good accuracy.
Time tables:
All unnecessary slack has been taken out of the timetabling and time compression
when waiting at stations is now turned off by default but can be set using the G
key.
The HUD now provides a wind readout as well as a weight reading. An 'RA' indication now will appear in the HUD at relevant stations.
Train Functionality:
The cruse control speed setting is now notched and you have to be accelerating
for the system to engage.
The reverser will not move if you are accelerating, but if the power handle is
in neutral, switching the reverser will apply the brakes if you are moving.
Reversing is still not permitted but the train can now gently roll backwards with the doors closed.
The on-board computer now has an animated traction page.
Wheel-slip has been overhauled to improve authenticity and is less likely to occur unless weather conditions are very severe.
See the User Guide for more details.
