Floating toros

  • Toros can now float, allowing them to bypass various obstacles

  • Added to eliminate confusion with the old quirky invisible "run modifier" behavior

  • Shadows are rendered underneath

  • Floating reduces friction so toros can move quickly

  • Controls remain similar to running in previous versions

  • Mechanics have been adjusted to match the visual feedback: floating over region/color buttons does not press them, unfloating triggers buttons, portals, and goals.

  • Floating is completely undoable and redoable, but can smartly merge into directional moves to keep things smooth

Restart overhaul

  • Removed hold to hard restart

  • Added a dedicated restart menu, with explanations

  • Normal, overworld, unsolved, puzzle restart

Protections

  • Several new friendly protections have been added with associated messages.

  • Puzzle unsolve protection, enabled by default but can disable in menu

  • Overworld restart protection, since hold restart was removed

  • Future timeline protection, to prevent float/unfloat in the past from clearing your future moves

Mac support!

  • Toroban now runs natively on Mac OS (Apple Silicon)

  • This means that all Steam platforms are supported now: Windows, Linux, Mac, SteamOS

Safe autosave

  • Autosaves and manual saves stay separate

  • Fix issue of autosaves overwriting your manual saves

  • Menu shows differences and details on saves

  • Settings save when games save, fixes timing issue of losing settings

  • Menu shows errors on corrupt save files

Fixes

  • Fix sign achievement bug, wrong stats made it impossible to get the achievement!

  • Fix sign aspect ratios

  • Fix sign icon z-index, no longer hidden by anything

  • Fix mysterious-object logic to be the intended behavior

  • Show error dialog when failing to connect to Steam instead of silent failure

INTERNAL-only changes

  • Multiplayer is still under development, but there have been many improvements made here, various puzzle soft-lock protections, friend restart protection, restart logic working correctly in multiplayer (undoable too), a new low-latency undo/redo consensus, and 2-4 player world content updates.

  • Latest rust, bevy, package versions

  • Demo timer (for showcases), benny test demo

  • Remove duplicate World inside RenderWorld, saves on memory and redundant code

  • Remove postcard, replace with internal Cereal framework (binary format with nested versions)
