Developer Update: The Future of Wildlands of Faenora

Hiya!

First off, thank you. The passion, feedback and chaos you brought to the Wildlands of Faenora Alpha Demo were beyond anything we could’ve hoped for. Watching you experiment, strategize and spend hours and hours in this alpha demo reminded us exactly why we’re building this world together.

In our alpha demo, we've had more than 7,000 players play tens of thousands of hours exploring the Wildlands and pressure testing our gameplay loop.

The purpose of our alpha demo was to make sure that we were on the right track with the basic gameplay loop. Mission accomplished.

Now for the update: Wildlands of Faenora will not be releasing in 2025.

For those that are disappointed - thank you for caring about what we're building. You will not be disappointed with what is to come. We’ve been hard at work on three major fronts:

• A Complete Backend Overhaul – We tore down the old systems and rebuilt them from the ground up to allow for far more flexible, dynamic tactical battles and systems and better (less grindy) balancing. We had used some third-party systems to put together the alpha demo in record time, but it became clear that the ambition we have for the project requires our own proprietary system. That took time, but we're on the tail end of that work, which gives us all of the flexibility and capability that we need for what we have planned for the early access release and beyond.

• A Full UI Redesign – Every pixel is getting the royal treatment. Cleaner interfaces, sharper animations and a visual polish that feels right at home in Faenora’s handcrafted world. Our goal is for the pixel art in our game to live among the greats, without any shortcuts.

• An Expanded Story Worth Fighting For – This isn’t just another “save the world” story. It’s about what happens after the world demands saving and what kind of people we choose to become when we’re given second chances. Or third chances. Or fifty-eighth. Your choices won’t just change NPC banter. They’ll shape the future of Faenora itself. The lore runs deep and the alpha demo has only given the faintest glimpse at that.

We know how eager you are to dive back in and we’re just as eager to show you what’s next. But we’ll only announce our Early Access timeline once we’re fully confident it’s ready. No rushed promises, no Netherrealm trickery.

Until then, thank you for believing in this world, this story and the sleep-deprived team behind it. Wildlands of Faenora is growing into something truly special and we can’t wait for you to see what’s been lurking beyond the Wildlands.
