Repeated intro

Hello everyone, it’s been a while, hasn’t it? Since the last patch in 2021, I’ve been steadily working on making Timespinner 2: Unwoven Dream. It’s coming along really well and I’ve recently begun working on the final levels of the game!

changedSince the sequel is built on top of the Timespinner 1 engine, I have made several accessibility and quality of life improvements that I really like. So, I’ve decided to backport them!
addedThe biggest changes revolve around attacking and backdashing. I’ve added a “Turbo Attack” option, that lets you attack with your melee orbs by simply holding the button, instead of needing to spam it. I’ve also greatly lowered the cooldown on backdash, allowing you to spam it to move much faster than before. In addition, you can now backdash out of Spells which lock you in place, allowing you to quickly get out of the way of an incoming attack!
changedOne change that might be controversial is a bug that I fixed, one that previously would allow you to maintain backdash speeds if you jump and attack on the same frame. This is something that is used in the most speedruns of the game. Unfortunately, this tech is quite difficult to do, hurts players’ hands, and needs to be executed perfectly hundreds of times throughout the run. I’ve heard complaints from many would-be speedrunners that this is the one thing preventing them from picking up the run. Accessibility is important to me, so it bothers me that the game can’t be speedrun by anyone who wants to. Hopefully, the new backdash spam will help spice things up in a fun way!
addedFor those who wish to speedrun the old version of the game, I have added an archived version of v1.033 on Steam.
changed1.04Updated to latest FNA Framework! Now uses SDL3 instead of SDL2. Hopefully fixes driver issues on some machines.
added1.04Added “Hold to Attack” option for player controls. When enabled, holding the melee attack button will continue attacking.

Anyway, back to working on the sequel for me!
