addedA "second chance" mechanic has been added. Instead of losing progress when you die in a stage, you get another chance on that same stage but with lava as walls. This feels much more fair, balanced and fun.
changedThe game is 10% slower, both player movement and enemy movement. This makes avoiding enemies easier, and puts more focus on making smart decisions in the heat of battle.
changedThe second procedural challenge has been cut down from 16 rooms to 12, and the stages have been tweaked to be a bit easier.
addedThe two final challenges are now "inverted mode", a remixed version of the normal 64 stages, but without checkpoints. This is intentionally super hard, but is much more manageable with the new "second chance" mechanic.
changedSome players requested being able to mute the game, so 'm' now mutes all audio.
addedFinally, two new achievements for completing the inverted challenges have been added, and the achievement for completing the no longer existing lava challenge has been renamed to "Zet", the username of the only player who proved unlocking all achievements in the original release. To unlock this achievement you have to beat the inverted challenge without using a second chance.

The "THOTH Have Mercy" update is now live. We have been going through the feedback we have received, watched countless of youtube / twitch vids, and we admit that the game was indeed too hard and frustrating for it's own good. This update tackles three major points of criticism: The game is too punishing and repetitive, the game is too fast or hard to control, and the end-game is too difficult. Changelog:

  • A "second chance" mechanic has been added. Instead of losing progress when you die in a stage, you get another chance on that same stage but with lava as walls. This feels much more fair, balanced and fun.

  • The game is 10% slower, both player movement and enemy movement. This makes avoiding enemies easier, and puts more focus on making smart decisions in the heat of battle.

  • The second procedural challenge has been cut down from 16 rooms to 12, and the stages have been tweaked to be a bit easier.

  • The first four levels are much easier.

  • The two final challenges are now "inverted mode", a remixed version of the normal 64 stages, but without checkpoints. This is intentionally super hard, but is much more manageable with the new "second chance" mechanic.

  • Some players requested being able to mute the game, so 'm' now mutes all audio.

  • The Bastet and Anubis achievements now only require you to beat 8 and 16 levels in a row, instead of 16 and 32.

  • Finally, two new achievements for completing the inverted challenges have been added, and the achievement for completing the no longer existing lava challenge has been renamed to "Zet", the username of the only player who proved unlocking all achievements in the original release. To unlock this achievement you have to beat the inverted challenge without using a second chance.
