The turtle carries four elephants.
The elephants hold your world.
Everything your followers build exists on top of that structure. Cities, temples, entire civilizations - all balanced on elephants that are standing on a creature you created.
If the turtle becomes stronger, the entire structure becomes more stable.
A more stable world allows your followers to grow and generate more faith.
So yes - you can upgrade your world.
