The Wings of Dawn changes
4th of August , 2026 Closed Beta Patch Notes
After our launch weekend we profiled our live servers and rebuilt the biggest performance offenders found, plus a round of gameplay, animation and audio work.
Performance
Dragon movement rebuilt from Blueprint into native C++. Removes about 6% of frame time when dragons are around you, and each movement update is roughly 45% faster.
Distant dragons no longer stutter or rubber band. Everything you can see is now smoothed at full quality.
New spatial replication system: servers now only consider what is near you instead of checking every object against every player. This is the foundation for going well past 32 players.
Servers no longer animate dragons nobody can see. Animation still runs in full during attacks, so combat accuracy is unchanged.
Removed over 10 million redundant collision checks per session. Gameplay collision, triggers, water and hitboxes are untouched.
Gameplay
Team leadership now passes correctly when the leader dies, plus fixes to the promotion system.
Rebalanced hunger and thirst drain and replenish rates.
Randomized spawn locations, and dragons can no longer spawn mid-air or underwater.
Animation and Audio
New idle variation animations.
New drowning animation for Icy Crown, and cleaned up its wing flaps.
Fixed floaty legs on the scent animation.
All UI sounds now hooked up, mix cleaned up and rebalanced.
Real sound design for the scent system.
World and UI
Latest Aleria map pass.
Optimized the new rock formations.
Restored the missing stats panel keybind.
Most of this patch is optimization, but it is what lets us grow server sizes and keep the world busy. Thanks for all the reports since launch, and we have more updates planned over the next several weeks.
