The Watcher's Curse demo has received its first major update that overhauls much of the UI, introduces a new narrative intro sequence, and an improved combat experience.

Narrative

  • When starting a new game, the player will find themselves inside Artem's mind. Thoughts drifting by after a long day's work when his oracle notifies him he's being sent to check in on a fellow watcher gone missing in Grim's Briar.

  • Various dialogues updated to better fit tone and narrative.

  • Technotheist Temple objective and narrative framing updated.

  • Some NPCs will provide their backstory after completing their quest. Make sure to follow up once no more quests are available from an NPC!

UI

  • The character panel as well as the Skill & Traits page have pop ups to guide you through each UI to ease player learning curve.

  • Dialogue background has been updated from the placeholder asset

  • Inventory items have a thematic tool tip pop up when focused or moused over

  • Victory splash screen has been updated to provide post-combat information

Gameplay

  • Quick slot items! Players can now assign 4 items to be used while in combat. Using an item consumes 1 cast.

  • Spell slots! Players previously had all 9 spells available in the demo at their disposal each fight. Now, players will have 3 spell slots at the start of the game and quickly unlock 3 more slots as they level up. The goal of this change is to provide player agency and expression in how to best handle each encounter. There is no cost or penalty to swapping spells. Spell slots are assigned from the Skills & Traits page.

  • HP and damage values updated for several enemy types to present a more balanced challenge to the player as they experience the narrative of The Watcher's Curse.

  • Music for many zones has been updated to create a more cohesive atmosphere.

  • Many bug fixes. NoteIf you encounter bugs of any size please post in the community forums and it will be fixed asap!
