Aye, Aye! All hands on deck!
We’re ready to share the first hands-on experience with The Wake. Hop on board, steel your hearts, and shield your minds from the terrors looming in the black waters of the archipelago!
The Wake (Demo) will be available on Steam on April 24th, giving players an early look at its world and core systems.
In the demo, we want to introduce players to the core mechanics of The Wake. You will be able to explore islands, talk to NPCs, fight off sea monsters, and, of course, hunt for fish. The demo will be around 45–90 minutes long, with mechanics introduced gradually.
What to expect in the demo:
Exploration of a fragmented, haunting island environment
Early encounters with hostile sea creatures
Introduction to core mechanics such as fishing, crafting, and combat
A glimpse into the game’s narrative direction and atmosphere
This demo is an early slice of the full experience, designed to showcase the foundations of gameplay and tone.

THE EYE OF THE STORM
Wraith Haven is a gloomy place, teeming with strange inhabitants who claim to know your long-lost father. You feel like they are hiding something, but for now, they are your best chance at finding him. Despite the eerie atmosphere, this place provides much-needed shelter and a moment of respite from the dangers at sea. Converse with the crew members, craft upgrades, and fortify your magical powers before heading back out there.
The archipelago is a dangerous, alien place where danger lurks around every corner. Writhing shadows put your mind to the test, and you always have to be on your guard. The hub was a necessity for us, as it is the only place where the player can take a breather and feel safe. Moments of relief make the tense battles and the pressing atmosphere even more meaningful.
Catching fish like never before
The fish in The Wake are unlike anything you have seen before. The eldritch nature of this place has mutated them and enriched their bodies with arcane essence. You must catch them and use this essence to gather your strength. But this will not be an easy task. The fish fight back ferociously, using both their teeth and eldritch magic to slip off your hook. Use unique fishing rods with their individual movesets to defeat the fish and reel them in before they can escape - or sink your ship.
We love fishing, but we never liked the minigame nature of standard fishing mechanics. We wanted to make fishing in our game an epic battle that really puts your skills to the test. Each fish is designed to be unique, with its own requirements to get it on the hook, as well as a distinct moveset and temperament once you fight it. This way, every encounter feels fresh and unpredictable - no two fish are the same, and you can really feel that in the way they fight. Your own skills are inspired by RPGs and give you a satisfying rotation to master. Each rod has its own core mechanic that the skills revolve around.
Embrace the Arcane and bolster your arsenal
From the fish you catch, you harvest parts that can be used in rituals. You can also use them to enhance your fishing rods! Each part has specific attributes that you need to carefully weigh against each other. A part
