The Traveller Tale — New Demo Update

Hi everyone,

I just uploaded a new demo build for The Traveller Tale. This update adds a lot of new features, polish, and major improvements to the battle system.

This new build is a big step forward from the older version. I have been working hard on making the game feel more like a true old-school CRPG, with better combat flow, cleaner systems, and more meaningful character and enemy mechanics.

Some of the major improvements include:

Upgraded Battle System

The battle system has been heavily improved with better D20-style hit rolls, armor class checks, damage dice, stat-based damage, and cleaner combat messages.

Improved Enemy Stats and Balance

Enemies now use proper RPG-style stats like Strength, Dexterity, Constitution, Intelligence, Piety, and Luck. Enemy AC, hit bonuses, resistances, and abilities have also been improved.

Smarter Enemy Abilities

Enemies can now use a wider variety of abilities, including poison attacks, debuffs, healing, buffs, fear effects, and other special skills.

Improved Spells and Skills

Many spells and skills have been cleaned up and improved. Buffs, healing spells, damage spells, cooldowns, and status effects now work more consistently.

Better Status Effects

States such as Sleep, Fear, Charm, Poison, Guard Break, Shield, and other effects have been improved so they behave more properly in combat.

Resistance System Improvements

Elemental and poison resistances now play a bigger role in combat, helping reduce damage from matching damage types.

Cleaner UI and Battle Feedback

The battle UI and combat log have been improved to better show what is happening during combat, including hit rolls, misses, damage, and battle rewards.

Victory Rewards Screen

After battle, players now get a cleaner victory screen showing EXP, gold, and item rewards.

General Bug Fixes and Polish

Many smaller issues have been fixed, including class skill filtering, battle display problems, AC calculations, enemy stat handling, and various combat bugs.

This demo is still a work in progress, but it is much closer to the kind of CRPG I want The Traveller Tale to become. Thank you to everyone who has been testing, giving feedback, and following the project.

Your feedback really helps shape the game, and I hope this new demo feels like a big improvement.

Thank you for playing!
