中华三国志 the Three Kingdoms of China changes
To All Players,
Since the release of version 1.25, we have carefully read every message left in the comment sections and review sections. Although most reviews are positive, the shortcomings you pointed out are also very clear to us internally.
The Chronicles of the Three Kingdoms is a game that has been released for over a decade. Due to being open-sourced on GitHub, many developers have contributed over time, resulting in a large amount of duplicate code, commented-out code, and even code whose purpose is unclear. Over the past six months, our new lead programmer, Lins, has been working hard to understand this "mountain of spaghetti code" and has now mostly grasped the meaning of most of the code. After multiple recent discussions within the team, we have decided on our development direction for the next few years:
Refactor the underlying code
Over the next few years, we will gradually refactor the game's core code, cleaning up redundant, unclear, and duplicate code.
Suspend new feature development, focus on content enrichment
We will no longer develop new features. All efforts will be dedicated to enriching game content, including but not limited to: historical events, fictional historical events, and random faction events.
Comprehensive rework of existing mechanics
We will redesign existing features, covering tactics, titles, character attributes, facilities, technology, military, population, unit damage, and other mechanics and content.
DLC issues
Due to team constraints, we will no longer be able to maintain DLC going forward. As the game version evolves, DLC may become incompatible in ways we cannot fix. Therefore, we will remove all DLC from sale and keep only the base game. We deeply apologize for this and ask for your understanding. If you still wish to experience the Silk Road, Nostalgia, or DP versions, you can download historical versions from our forum (
). (。・_・。)ノ I’m sorry~
Editor compatibility
As development continues, the editor may also become incompatible. Until the underlying refactoring is complete, we will not update the editor. We ask for your understanding in advance.
The above is the overall direction of our team for the next few years. All development work is done in our personal spare time. Most team members prioritize their real-life jobs, and aside from myself, everyone else has a family. Please be kind with your words. If you really cannot hold back, please direct your criticism at me alone. Do not attack the programmers or other team members – they were hard for me to recruit. Thank you. QAQ
Next Development Plan (Version 1.26)
As the new year of 2026 begins, after several internal meetings, we have finalized the main content for version 1.26:
Facility redesign A comprehensive redesign of the facility system in the game.
Character status and interactions Add status functions for characters, gradually improving interactions between characters. Characters will behave more like real people – after work, they will go to taverns to talk, eat, and drink with others.
Strategy and diplomacy redesign Improve strategy mechanics and redesign the diplomacy system.
Economy system and farming gameplay Add an economy system, enrich farming gameplay (including but not limited to equipment forging, random events, etc.)
General optimization Comprehensive optimization of general titles, five attributes, etc.
Recruitment Information
If you would like to contribute to The Chronicles of the Three Kingdoms and have a skill (including but not limited to programming, planning, art, illustration, etc.), you are welcome to join us!
Please note: You need to stay reachable online and be able to invest regular personal spare time – no “three days fishing, two days netting.” Also, this is an unpaid, voluntary team. There is no salary.
Current Team Members
Project Coordinator: Mika Liuding
Lead Programmer: Lins
Programmers: Leigishi, Lins, He Fang
Planner: csfbi77
Special Note
Leigishi will not be participating in the development of this game this year, as he needs to focus on his own game project. Over the years, he has been quietly contributing so much – it’s time for him to take a good rest.
Thank you all for your support and understanding!
