removedThe end of an EraWriting this Slormite Chronicles and the previous few as well has led us to a realization: a monthly newsletter simply no longer fits the way we develop the game. We're still working on The Slormancer, but in a very different way than we did during Early Access. Development is less focused on delivering frequent, visible milestones, and we've found it increasingly difficult to fill a monthly Chronicles with genuinely exciting news. Writing a Chronicles like this one, where very little has visibly changed, has become a major source of stress for me. I'd much rather switch back to a more flexible format, where we publish an article whenever we actually have something worth sharing. The Slormite Chronicles began alongside our Early Access launch on April 6th, 2021, and they became one of the best decisions we ever made. They allowed us to keep everyone informed throughout development, announce major updates and release dates, showcase upcoming content, and openly discuss design decisions with the community as they happened. I seriously considered ending the Chronicles after the 1.0 release, but at the time I wasn't sure what post-launch development would look like, so I decided to keep the monthly format going. Looking back, though, the last five Chronicles have all felt fairly similar. Ironically, they've almost done us a disservice by creating the impression that development has stalled, when in reality much of the work simply isn't very interesting to show. Spending weeks brainstorming mechanics, balancing systems, or writing hundreds of skill tooltips is an important part of development, it's pretty exciting but it's also the kind of work that's very difficult to turn into an engaging newsletter. So, from now on, we'll be moving away from the Slormite Chronicles format. Instead, we'll publish development articles whenever we have meaningful news to share. This is most likely the final Slormite Chronicles. :'( And even though if nothing appears on September 6th, there's a good chance the next news you'll see from us will include a release date for the Whimsical Witch DLC.

Steam post imageHello everyone! It’s the 6th of the month once again, which means it’s time for an update on everything currently in the works for The Slormancer.

July Update

As I mentioned in Slormite Chronicles #63, July was going to be a busy month for us, with plenty of personal projects and commitments leaving very little time for game development.

Unsurprisingly, we weren't able to make any meaningful progress on the DLC during the month. Our plan remains unchanged, however: we're aiming for a release around the start of autumn, sometime during Q4 2026.

The end of an Era

A Brief Recap of what's to come

Since this article may remain on the game's front page for a while, here's a quick recap of everything you can expect for The Slormancer before the end of the year.

The Whimsical Witch DLC This DLC will introduce the game's fourth playable class: The Whimsical Witch. It will launch alongside a free update for The Slormancer that includes a new outfit color customization system for every character, laying the groundwork for potential future skins as well as a number of bug fixes and general improvements.

If you want to better understand what’s going on, I’ve included the full list below. of the Whimsical Witch’s Skills and Mechanics:

  • Support Skills :

    • Mixture Vortex (The Potion Chef)

    • Spectral Companion (The Spirit Guide)

    • Third Eye (The Fortuneteller)

  • Skills :

    • Scythe Strike

    • Spectral Bat Flight

    • Spectral Toad Explosion

    • Flask of Last Breath

    • Siphon Soul

    • Scythe Flurry

    • Spectral Ancestor Summoning

    • Spectral Spider Swarm

  • Mechanics :

    • Balance of Life and Death

    • Potion

    • Bryan McRipped

    • Infection

    • Soul Stones

You should be able to find additional information on all of these mechanics in our previous Slormite Chronicles if you want to dig deeper and investigate! Here in Slormite Chronicles 61, Slormite Chronicles 60, Slormite Chronicles 59 and Slormite Chronicles 58.

Console Release

As we mentioned in the previous Slormite Chronicles, The Slormancer is coming to consoles very soon! And there will also be a physical edition!

Steam post image

And here’s a very nice teaser accompanying the console releases. The Xbox version doesn’t appear in it, but it will absolutely be there as well.

And recently, The Slormancer pages have started popping up in all the right places:

https://www.gamestop.com/video-games/playstation-5/products/the-slormancer-deluxe-edition---playstation-5/20036047-680826cd.html

So there you have it, this is a huge achievement for us, and something we’re incredibly proud of!

The currently displayed release date of December 31st, 2026 is most likely just a placeholder, and we should be able to share the actual release date within the next few months.

The Whimsical Witch DLC is not included in the Deluxe Edition and should be available for consoles later on. Steam post image

For Xbox players, a demo is still available if you’d like to try the game right away. You can find it here: https://www.xbox.com/fr-fr/games/store/the-slormancer-demo/9NLSPJ7KCPMN

That's all for today. While this may be the final Slormite Chronicles, it's certainly not the end of our journey. Stay tuned, there's more to come!

Cheers!
