The Red Window changes
This update adds new gameplay mechanics, improves player control options, and refines overall stability based on feedback.
New Gameplay Features
Flashlight Beam Mechanic A new defensive flashlight ability has been added that allows players to briefly stall enemies during encounters. This adds an additional layer of interaction during stealth situations and improves survivability under pressure. The flashlight ability cooldown is illustrated at the top of the screen with a bar that fills up from the center.
Quality of Life Improvements
Screen Mode Settings Added Players can now switch between Windowed, Borderless Windowed, and Fullscreen modes directly from the settings menu, without needing Alt+Enter.
Laptop Hint Toggle A new setting allows players to disable in-game laptop hints for a more challenging and minimal guidance experience.
Subtitles Toggle Added Subtitles can now be enabled or disabled during gameplay, allowing for either guided narrative support or a fully immersive no-text experience.
Note: Subtitles currently apply to gameplay closed captions only. Support for intro sequences will be added in a future update.
When both Subtitles and Protagonist Voice are disabled, some optional environmental interactions and narration features will also be reduced. This includes certain contextual object prompts, character commentary, and note read-aloud functionality.
For the full intended experience, we recommend keeping at least one of these options enabled. These systems will be further refined in a future update to better reflect player settings in all prompts.
Gamepad Scrolling (Settings Menu)
Players can now reliably scroll through settings menu using controller D-Pad.
Gameplay & System Improvements
Stealth System Update
The enemy encounter system now uses a 3-hit interaction model, making stealth sections more forgiving and improving overall pacing during chases and hiding sequences.
Enemy AI During Pause
Player can now pause while the enemy is patrolling without worrying about being attacked while paused, pausing the game while being chased is still disabled to prevent exploitation of enemy AI and stealth loop.
Bug Fixes
Fixed issue where breathing and heartbeat audio effects could persist after player death
Fixed Controller support for button Cycling Bug on Keypad
Fixed issue where buttons didn’t make any sound on keypad when using gamepad
Fixed In game pause menu input, which allowed players to open the menu multiple times without closing
General bug fixes and gameplay polish
Roadmap / Planned Updates
Future updates will continue to refine gameplay balance and expand player control over difficulty and accessibility options.
Enemy Encounter Difficulty Settings
A dedicated difficulty system for enemy encounters is planned, allowing players to adjust stealth challenge intensity for a more tailored experience.
General Bug Fixes & Polish
Ongoing updates will continue addressing reported issues, improving stability, and refining overall gameplay feel across all systems.
