The full 1-2 hour narrative experience will go live on October 29th, and we can’t wait for everyone to explore the abandoned facility.

We recently ran a closed UX playtest in collaboration with UX IS FINE, joined by Kayleigh Jones, UX Designer at UX IS FINE.

The playtest focused on first-time player experience, clarity, and how to guide players through a surreal environment without breaking immersion. The findings led to several key UX updates and performance improvements across the demo.

UX & Accessibility Updates

  • FTUE Training Video - introduces the core loop and tone of the OPA facility.

  • Permanent Training Poster - displayed in the main lobby as a visual reminder.

  • Anomaly Entrances Signposting - new posters reading “Anomaly Containment - Inspect. Then Contain.” plus visuals of the OPA desk.

  • Loading Screen - added to confirm the game is running on first boot (no more black screen confusion).

  • Interaction Dot - a centered dot that grows when targeting interactable objects.

  • Subtitles Added - all PA and VO lines now subtitled.

  • Performance Improvements - especially in desert levels.

  • Clearer Navigation in Desert Areas - reshaped layout and lighting for better readability.

  • Main Facility Lighting Pass - improved general visibility without losing atmosphere.

  • Gentle Reminders - periodic in-world announcements reminding players to close anomalies.

This build represents the most polished version of The Office Rooms yet, focused, stable, and ready for Next Fest.
