Repeated intro
Hey! Hope you all are doing well. I waned to come on here quickly and clarify something. Yesterday’s UploadVR Showcase was cool and to those that are interested in The new Obsessive Shadow Chapter 2 teaser, thank you! I did hear quite a few concerns from the community though about The state of Chapter 1 on PSVR2 and I want to talk more about that here. First thing I want to clarify is that while there was a new chapter *2* announcement/teaser released yesterday, chapter 2 development is on pause right now so that I can get console ports for Chapter 1 out the door. That teaser was one I cooked up based on playable content I already had put together. Right now though getting The Obsessive Shadow onto PlayStation is my ***NUMBER ONE*** Priority. It is pretty much the *only* devwork im doing right now. With that being said, I also work a full time in person day job and I also do part time work remotely for Clickteam. I am a solo dev for the most part when it comes to the console ports and it’s my first time doing console ports as well. There’s a LOT of complicated things to learn when it comes to porting to consoles and while it honestly is pretty jarring, I’m slowly learning as I go. PlayStation (Specifically PSVR2g is the *only* platform I’m working on porting to right now even before Xbox or any other platforms. There’s Mixed Reality Announcement during RuffTalk VR’s showcase is also paused on development so I can lock in on console ports. For those of you being patient, thank you. I’m just excited as you guys for its eventual release if not more excited! For those that are eagerly waiting, I understand the frustration and confusion, but I am also incredibly grateful for the enthusiasm surrounding this game. I promise you guys it’ll be worth the wait, keep bearing with me!

I also want to provide a small update on the PSVR2 version’s development progress.
I’ve been able to get it running on the PS5 dev kit! It does work in both flat mode and PSVR2 mode. Right now some of the main challenges are things I have to learn how to configure stuff on PlayStation’s extremely complicated and confusing back-end, but there’s also graphical challenges with some lighting bugs causing things to look super weird on console. I can confirm it runs on PSVR2 and PS5 flatmode, but I do need to fix some of these graphical issues, along with other functionality bugs such as sensitivity problems in Flat-mode when looking with the joy stick. I’m working to also ensure that I am compliant with sony’s publishing requirements to get approved for release.
I also have some PS Exclusive features I’m pushing to implement as well!
This includes:
Dual-sense Speaker functionality for phone calls (as an option)
Gyro Support as an *option* for looking around in flat-mode
PSVR2 Facial Haptics (for things like being jumpscared)
Some way to integrate Eye tracking on PSVR2 (although I’m unsure where and how I want to implement that, so if you have ideas, let me know in the official discord server!
I also unfortunately right now cannot release on PS4 at launch because I do not have the PS4 dev kit. The hope is to acquire that soon after so I can support PS4, but right now it’s looking like Launch will only have PSVR2 support with optional PS5 (flatmode) support.
Lastly, I know chapter 2 just got a new teaser yesterday with 2026 at the end, but while not for certain, it is more than likely that it will be pushed into 2027. I know this isn’t great news but I’m doing a lot on my end and I’m driven to make it all happen, just taking everything one step at a time.
