The Midnight Walkers changes
This is Ray, Director of The Midnight Walkers.
It has been a while since I last spoke to you.
Over the past period, we needed time to sort through internal matters within the development team and reconsider the direction of development going forward.
First, I want to sincerely apologize for not communicating with you as often as we should have during that time.
Today, I would like to speak honestly about the current state of the development team and where we are headed from here.
First, the TMW development team has been reorganized into a much smaller team than before.
The community managers who were part of the development team have also left, which means that moving forward, I will be communicating development updates and important decisions to you directly.
To be honest about our current situation, considering the size of the development team and the current player pool, it is becoming increasingly difficult for us to continue maintaining the live service in the same way as before.
Running live servers requires ongoing server costs and operational support.
However, with the current player pool and the current state of the development team, it is realistically becoming very difficult to maintain the servers in the same structure while also continuing to deliver updates quickly.
In fact, even when the number of active players was low, the development team kept the live servers running in a way that allowed existing players to play as smoothly as possible, regardless of matchmaking numbers.
However, we have come to the conclusion that simply maintaining the current structure is not a sustainable way to keep the game running in the long term.
We felt that hiding this situation and simply saying “everything is fine” would only lead to greater disappointment for players later on.
That is why we wanted to share the current situation with you as honestly as possible.
At the moment, we are exploring every possible option to help the game continue, including external partnerships, investment opportunities, and improvements to the service structure.
That does not mean we are giving up on The Midnight Walkers.
The remaining development team is continuing development while taking over and organizing the work left behind by developers who have departed.
At the same time, we are reviewing different ways to build a structure that will allow the game to continue existing going forward.
I cannot promise that we will be able to fix everything quickly.
But we have not given up, and we are not standing still.
This is not an easy situation, but we will do everything we can for as long as we are able.
We will continue to share updates as the situation becomes clearer.
And until the end, the development team will keep looking for a way to make sure The Midnight Walkers can remain playable.
To all players around the world who continue to play and wait for us, thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
