Regarding the v1.2 update

Dear Players, It's been a while since I announced the v1.2 update, which was a huge free DLC update to the game that I had planned. It is unfortunate, but I have come to the decision to cancel this free DLC update.

addedAfter the release of The Lustful Champion, there were no plans for DLC or added content, the focus was on bug fixing, and there were a lot of bugs! After that, I wanted to deliver more content to the game out of love for the game itself. However, when you go from having a small team of people to going solo, you realize that it's a lot more work than you thought. After writing the DLC story, which was a prequel to the main story, I worked on the art, story, music, sound effects, animation, and more (for the most part) on my own. I listened to feedback and created a more choice driven story, which would lead to several different outcomes.
addedThe decision to cancel the planned DLC isn't one that I take lightly, I have tried many different ways to try and save this content, but you can only do so much. Even though the main game was never intended to have free added content, I really just wanted to give something extra to the people who decided to give the game a chance. I wanted to give the players more than I could give them.
addedA lot of work went into the updated content, and to throw it away would be a slap in the face. Therefore, I want to add the animations to the game in a special "Extra" section. So players can see the hard work that went into creating them.

Dear Players,

It's been a while since I announced the v1.2 update, which was a huge free DLC update to the game that I had planned. It is unfortunate, but I have come to the decision to cancel this free DLC update. Let's go over what happened.

Rough Start

When The Lustful Champion was first created, it went through writer's hell. The original story was rewritten a couple of times, and it was created with help from a few different people. It was a long road to create the game in the first place, as it was everyone's first time working on a game, and especially the Calories Game was a chore to create. Eventually, the game was finished and released on Steam.

Going Solo

After the release of The Lustful Champion, there were no plans for DLC or added content, the focus was on bug fixing, and there were a lot of bugs!

Obviously, looking back, I should've known that I made promises too early on and should've first created the content and then announced it once it was nearly finished. I bit off more than I could chew.

Writer hell

The prequel story has been rewritten a few times—seven, to be exact. I wanted to give the players the option to choose different routes they could take. Some lead to pure adult content, others to adult oriented comedy, and another route would be a more serious and grounded story. Especially after hearing some complaints from American players that the main story was "offensive", I wanted to make sure the prequel story wasn't offensive. My aim with this game was for people to have fun, not feel attacked. It was a satirical game, but I have learned a great deal.

Decision to Cancel

The decision to cancel the planned DLC isn't one that I take lightly, I have tried many different ways to try and save this content, but you can only do so much. Even though the main game was never intended to have free added content, I really just wanted to give something extra to the people who decided to give the game a chance. I wanted to give the players more than I could give them.

I have learned from this mistake and will make sure it won't happen again in future projects. My sincere apologies to the players who were waiting for this content, and my apologies to those who wishlisted the game while waiting for the content update.

What happens next

A lot of work went into the updated content, and to throw it away would be a slap in the face. Therefore, I want to add the animations to the game in a special "Extra" section. So players can see the hard work that went into creating them.

Again, my apologies to the players and to the people who were involved in helping with the creation of The Lustful Champion.
