The Killing Stone changes
A lot of our work this month was adjustments to The Reckoning as we continue to prepare that experience for 1.0. In addition to that, we added some quality of life improvements based on areas where we saw players becoming confused, added polish in several areas, and fixed pile of bugs. One notable fix we could really use feedback on is the “white void” bug that was affecting certain GPUs, especially Intel Iris. We think we have fixed this, but we could really use someone who has experienced the bug to verify that it worked, since we cannot reproduce it with our hardware.
General Improvements:
Added a pop up modal when you confirm bidding in the last round of bargaining if you have enough revelations to remove demon bids that you haven’t used. We have seen a lot of players miss this feature, and it is key to tipping the odds in your favor!
Polished the feedback for when a boon or a bane triggers during a card battle. The goal was to make this more noticeable and visually attractive. A HUGE improvement was also made to how they display when playing at higher speeds (this part bordered on a bugfix, but technically wasn’t).
Replaced the distant terrain in the intro sequence with all new art to better reflect the location and visual target.
New visual effects on cards and creatures when they are “copies” to clarify that state (distinguishing copies has particular significance in The Reckoning).

If you complete any optional rituals, you can now “ascend” the altered Mariken deck from those rituals for use in The Reckoning. This is done at the end of the chapter when ascending the family member deck.
Added slight pulse to eligible cards when navigating forge options to clarify player affordance.
New spooky moment in the grottothat triggers under certain conditions.
Small tweaks to mouse collision with cards make interaction reliable.
Improved visual feedback and messaging when switching profiles.
New VFX for Vardogr Omen.
New VFX for Skittering Leech.
Hooked up SFX to Shield chant triggering.
Added sounds to torches leading to the grotto.
Added “inky” hand treatment to ritual washing sequence to better match the written narrative.
Visual polish to snowy footprints in intro.
Added bell sound and camera shake to Vollem’s witching hour sequence.
Update to 3D card display for better performance and visuals.
Bug Fixes:
Possible fix for "White Void" bug on Intel Iris GPUs. (we’ll need someone who has experienced this bug to verify this for us! Please let us know!)
Fix for bug with ejection that could lead to endless thinking loop from the demon AI.
Fix for “Sleep” prompt in the Maven’s room appearing at the wrong time.
Fix for end run not respecting typewriter setting.
Corrected text on Soul Trader bane.
Fix for incorrect coloring on reserve slots for some enemy controlled reserves.
Revelations tutorial in bargaining is now a Modal for a better reminder.
Fixed broken boon/bane navigation on end run screens.
Fixed coloring for bargain stake removal text to be more legible and match bane/boon rooms.
Fixed bug with GPU lightmass that created broken shadows on rotated meshes and updated lighting.
Fix for sleeping bomb action order that could lead to unintended (and broken) effects.
Fix to Contagious Laughter visualization on undo.
Fixed One Eye Violin scare not cleaning up properly.
Removed deprecated keyboard mapping from options.
Fixed bug with card positions that could occur on discard or play.
Fixed board visibility and interaction when you have 4 reserve slots (camera angle adjusts to allow you to interact with those reserves now).
Fix for incorrect rich text formatting on certain bane stakes in bargaining.
Fix for rare case where the main menu would become non-responsive with gamepad.
Fixed mismatch on UI location for client portrait when transitioning from ritual map to a recovery room and back.
As always, we want to thank everyone who has played and given feedback to help make The Killing Stone the best game it can be. We encourage anyone who plays to send feedback via F8 in game, or join us on the Discord and provide any thoughts you might have. If you have enjoyed playing, a review goes a long way to helping other people find us and we can't tell you how much we appreciate it! -Question
