The Hideaway changes
Hey everyone ! I hope you're all doing well ! Welcome to this 5th devlog about The Hideaway : Chapter 1 update :)
What's new on The Hideaway ?
Optimization : I've nearly doubled the overall performance of the game on all my testing devices
New visual technologies : DLSS Anti-Aliasing and Dynamic Visual Occlusion
- Enhanced visualsI've reworked the outdated Post-Processing profiles
- A new puzzle typeThe Hideaway now also features digicodes, you will new need codes to enter certain areas
- New high-tech basesInteractive physical buttons, animated doors, new sound design and visuals
Workbenchs are now all fully implemented into the game : 3D printer, Mechanical Workbench, Basic Workbench and Chemical lab
Resources for crafting can now also be mined using the "mechanical arm" wisely placed over a resource deposit
Added a new type of plant : There are now some healing plants that can heal you from certain diseases
A new defense system : The military bases now features an air to ground defense system, firing autoguided-missiles
In-game survival system notifications : The game now notifies you if your player catches a disease, eats something or if the current exterior temperature drops by any reason
New soundtrack system : From now a random soundtrack will play from the game's playlist
Not eating now kills you : If your stomach volume stays at 0% for some time, your player will die
The Island map : Without any other way of extracting than crafting a spacecraft you will have to find and use the mechanical workbench out there to craft resource extractors, trolleys, smelters, a 3d printer etc... in order to craft all the necessary elements
AI system balancing : I've rebalanced the AI behaviour for it to be globally more friendly
The spacecraft combat system is now completely implemented into the game
There is now a space combat training mode in which you will have to try to survive to hordes of enemies flying Gen. 1 fighters
Food-related diseases (formerly toxic bushes related diseases) are now only catchable by eating fruits from toxic bushes
Some Gen. 1 aircrafts are now craftable using all the high tech workbenchs
All the bugs and issues present in the older versions of the game should now be solved.
What am I currently working on ?
I'm still writing and implementing the story in every environment and debugging the notes system
I'm still debugging the crafting and building system
I've been working on environments and different bases accessibility : digicodes, petrol generators, "jumps" to make and missiles doging
I'm currently working on adding physical destruction to some vessels, and space stations
I'm still working on the different maps extracts
I am planning to create a "nuclear generator maintenance system" in which the player will have to "maintain" the high tech nuclear generators findable in recent bases
I am also working on making all game keys bindable and graphics fully customizable
I am also working on a craftable buggy that can be driven (will be part of the 1st chapter)

The Hideaway : Chapter 1 will be released on Steam in August 2023. There will be few open test phases in order to hunt bugs before the official release in late June on the official Discord server.
