The Guiding Spirit changes
Hi Adventurers,
Today's update is a big one again, it improves a couple of things. Better starting equipment, better magic usage, better combat flow, and many more!
See the full patch notes below:
Characters will now use more spells and their shields, bows more during combat!
Armor and special skins now reduce damage (there are different damage types: Piercing, Slashing, Bludgeoning, etc.).
The amount of damage reduction is indicated in the Story Text notes.
Generation of starting equipment now first considers the weapon, armor, and shield proficiencies the player selected. If none are selected, it falls back on class selection.
Additional weapons and shields have been added to starting equipment generation.
Characters now actually receive a viewable item in Chapter 2 as a gift from a certain NPC (if conditions are met), it's no longer just mentioned in the text.
A certain party conflict in Chapter 1 can now be resolved by a party member who meets the applicable criteria (high enough reasoning and motivation, appropriate personality).
Motivation is now capped at 100. No more overconfident heroes!
Used spells are no longer permanently memorized (apologies, spellcasters with infinite power, your time is up!)
Fixed a bug where the results shown did not match the dice roll.
Fixed the bug that caused the Beliefs filter button to not appear under the Personality Traits section.
Added the Peacekeeper trait
- Removed the Compassionate trait. NoteI don't intend to remove any further traits from the demo to avoid additional confusion. I recently did a second pass on all traits, and all of them have meaningful usage in the current dev build. Compassionate was removed because I realized it wasn't used anywhere, and whenever I thought of a situation where it could apply, other traits always overwrote its usage, so it felt like a duplicate. The "Always Helps Others" trait is still there, and it basically covers all scenarios where Compassionate would have been used.
Fixed an issue with the Wielder of the Intellect origin allowing players to take a class that focuses on studying magic rather than learning it naturally.
As always, I want to thank you for all the feedback. I'm still looking into some things, but I'm also slowly shifting my focus to finishing the full release version now, so updates to the demo will be a little slower.
Still, I read everything, keep it coming.
Until next time, Dice
