changedOne of the major improvements coming in Version 0.4.0 is a redesigned Unit GUI that introduces a new layer of battlefield clarity, weapon identification and performance visibility. Players will now be able to immediately see the specific weapon a unit is equipped with, whether it is a Brown Bess musket, Hesse-Kassel musket, or another period-accurate firearm.
changedOur goal with this enhancement is to communicate meaningful tactical information at a glance. The updated interface displays the weapon type alongside its expected accuracy and hit effectiveness at 100 yards (approximately three hexes from the firing unit). This allows players to better understand the strengths and limitations of each formation in real time and make more informed battlefield decisions.
changedVisually, we have positioned the weapon vertically beside the unit commander portrait, with the weapon’s name subtly integrated into the background design. A bayonet graphic is included beneath the weapon to indicate that the unit is capable of conducting bayonet charges, while the weapon’s accuracy rating at 100 yards is displayed above. This layout is intended to be both historically immersive and tactically intuitive.
addedThis marks the first major step in our expanded weapons system. In a future update, we plan to introduce a new gameplay mechanic that we believe will not only innovation but excite long time strategy game players, particularly for players who appreciate historical authenticity combined with deep tactical gameplay.
addedAs always, your feedback is incredibly important to us. We would greatly appreciate your thoughts on this new interface direction as we continue refining The Glorious Cause.
