addedWith that momentum, our focus now shifts fully toward version 0.4.0, which will mark the game’s first official Early Access release. This next version represents a major milestone in development and a substantial expansion of the game’s scope and systems. Version 0.4.0 is currently planned to release at a price point of $15 and will introduce a wide range of new content and mechanical upgrades aimed at deepening both historical authenticity and tactical gameplay.
addedThis release will include a newly developed Battle of Princeton map built from period-accurate historical sources, along with a complete and researched Order of Battle for both American and British forces during the engagement. Players will, for the first time, be able to command the Hessian and British sides in both the Battles of Trenton and Princeton. We are also introducing a significant expansion to the game’s audio experience, with a wealth of new voice lines and sound effects for American, British, and Hessian units, Patreon supporters will be able to preview the full recording list later this week. addedOn the gameplay side, version 0.4.0 introduces major tactical and visual enhancements. These include the addition of Light Infantry for British forces and Sharpshooter/Riflemen units for American forces, each fully integrated into the combat engine with their historically accurate weapon types. Artillery units will be added alongside new animations and combat mechanics. The map system itself is undergoing a major overhaul, introducing visible elevation levels that directly affect line of sight, combat effectiveness, and battlefield positioning. These changes are paired with a major AI upgrade, allowing enemy forces to maneuver more intelligently, seek flanking opportunities wherever possible, and adopt stronger offensive or defensive posture based on terrain and current battlefield situation.
addedAlongside these additions are numerous combat refinements and quality of life improvements, including more realistic firing arcs, improved line-facing damage calculations, restrictions on firing through friendly units, smarter unit facing behavior, and the addition of an undo-last-action option (Let us know if you want this disabled in The Options Menu. We’ll be running a community poll later this week on Patreon to gather feedback on this feature. As always, this update will also include a wide range of bug fixes and polish that come with expanding the tactical engine and introducing a new map structure.
addedDeveloping version 0.4.0 represents a significant investment of time and resources. Community support through Patreon helps offset development costs and allows us to accelerate progress toward this release. Every supporter, whether new or long-standing, helps push The Glorious Cause closer to its next major milestone. We are deeply grateful for the community that has formed around this project, and we’re excited to continue building this game together.

The response to The Glorious Cause over the past few days has been nothing short of incredible. Since launching the demo on Steam, we’ve received an overwhelming amount of positive feedback from players who jumped in, explored the Battle of Trenton, and shared their thoughts with us. Within the first 24 hours on Steam, the game reached approximately 200 wishlists, and we’re already approaching 300 shortly after. Seeing players connect with the mechanics, the historical detail, and the overall vision of the game has been both humbling and motivating. This early reception confirms that the foundation we’ve built is resonating with the strategy and history community, and we cannot thank you enough for that support.
