addedArchive roomThe Flat is made out of mean looking places. Mean looking = not supposed to look like flowers and rainbows, but a dangerous and brutal environment, pretty much the one you would find working in a corporation XD Another location here created by Malaria is the Archive Room. As with everything we try to add, all will be serving a purpose.
addedNew deviceThe next new thing is 'the device' (not its official name). I would love to tell you as much as I can about it, but I think Malaria will kill me if I do. It's better not to spoil too many things — it'll be much more interesting and fun to let you experience this one for yourself! :)
changedOn the closing noteWe have both been extremely busy, but we remain committed to The Flat and its development. The next step is to rework the code, adding props and optimization. We are working with an old codebase that I don't understand very well, and, to be honest, we are experiencing significant performance issues that we have linked to NPC AI. Luckily, I’ve gained some valuable experience and we have no intention of stopping.

Welcome to another monthly update. Even though our last one was in April – we know we are late. We were always open about the fact that The Flat is being worked on besides our full time jobs and personal life and sometimes, there is just no time. But enough shit talking, let’s dive deep into what you missed XD

Opening scene

We are a bit obsessed with live level menus here and even though we do not have a main menu– just yet, we do have an opening scene. The idea is to make this whole thing reactive and interactive, but let’s leave this to your imagination now.

Archive room

The Flat is made out of mean looking places. Mean looking = not supposed to look like flowers and rainbows, but a dangerous and brutal environment, pretty much the one you would find working in a corporation XD Another location here created by Malaria is the Archive Room. As with everything we try to add, all will be serving a purpose.

New device

The next new thing is 'the device' (not its official name). I would love to tell you as much as I can about it, but I think Malaria will kill me if I do. It's better not to spoil too many things — it'll be much more interesting and fun to let you experience this one for yourself! :)

All is textured and ready to go. I hope to code everything once I have a bit more time.

Mechanic table at work

Last but not least is the mechanic table. It got some extra love and you can now see how it looks like with the full animation and in the level. All there is left to do is just to hook it all up in the code.

On the closing note

It's never easy to summarize everything that's going on in a project. However, we are making steady progress and are already shaping the release date.

We have both been extremely busy, but we remain committed to The Flat and its development. The next step is to rework the code, adding props and optimization. We are working with an old codebase that I don't understand very well, and, to be honest, we are experiencing significant performance issues that we have linked to NPC AI. Luckily, I’ve gained some valuable experience and we have no intention of stopping.

Meanwhile, Malaria is ensuring that the world continues to evolve, updating the visuals and lore and writing the story. Marketing is slowly coming into view, but I think we’ll feel more confident about tackling it once we have more to show.

Although this isn’t a promise, I hope that we’ll show you more behind-the-scenes code as soon as I have something cool. Until then, let's continue with our weekly updates on Discord and our monthly updates here as usual.

Thanks for the love and support!

Spreading the word is much appreciated! <3
