"THE DOUBLE, CHAPTER 1" and DEMO - NOW AVAILABLE!

My name is BadGafi, and today my debut game - THE DOUBLE - is now available!

The game is based on a lesser-known novella by F.M. Dostoevsky and tells the story of Yakov Petrovich Golyadkin - a minor official in 18th-century Imperial Russia - in interactive form.

Of course, the game doesn't replicate the book literally! As Nabokov said in his lectures: "The book is brilliant, but it's impossible to read." I've adapted the plot somewhat (though it follows the novella within each chapter), tried to develop the character more deeply, and naturally incorporated an essential element of the era - playing cards!

You'll be playing what seems like a fairly simple game: Blackjack (also called Twenty-One, whatever you prefer), but with modifications. At the beginning of each round, you draw one Tarot card from the available selection, and it will influence the entire game's outcome, adding challenges and modifiers! After all, magical practices were an important part of that time period too!

In Chapter 1:

• Blackjack + Major Arcana, expressing not merely magic, but rather a mockery of the gambler's fate

• The story's beginning, immersion into the character and spirit of the era

• Simple puzzles that must be solved for Golyadkin to escape his apartment

There are 4 chapters planned in total. They'll develop both the card game mechanics and the story, with increasingly complex puzzles that will drive our minor official further into madness! Additionally, new languages and bonus features will arrive in the near future (all of which will be completely free!).

Chapter 1 Price: $1.99 (US) or equivalent.

I don't plan to raise the price for subsequent chapters.
