Hello everyone,

I haven’t forgotten about you—or about my first game. The Deadlands is incredibly special to me, and I wanted to take the time to share what I’ve been working on behind the scenes. This update brings some of the most requested features to the game, along with a few new challenges for those seeking something more demanding.

Without further ado, here’s what’s new. I hope you enjoy it!

🔥New Mode: Hard Mode!

Think you’ve truly conquered The Deadlands? Prove it.

Hard Mode is a brutal new challenge designed for the most determined players. In this mode, every death costs a life—no exceptions. Enemies, traps, missteps… they all count. To balance the challenge, you’ll begin with twice the normal number of lives, but how you use them will determine your fate.

Choose wisely—and good luck.

⏱ Speedrun mode:

Speedrunners, this one’s for you.

You can now enable Speedrun Mode at the start of a run, activating an in-game timer that tracks your completion time. Chase faster clears, challenge yourself, and share your best runs with others.

Speedrun Mode can be enabled in both Normal and Hard Mode.

💾 Save & Load System

One of the most requested features is finally here.

You can now save your progress and return later, making it easier to experience The Deadlands at your own pace—whether you finish in one session or many.

🔊 Music & SFX Volume Sliders

Take control of your experience.

New volume sliders for Music and Sound Effects have been added to both the Main Menu and Pause Menu. Your settings are saved automatically and will persist between sessions.

🎨 UI Improvements & Bug Fixes

  • General UI improvements and cleanup

  • Bug fixes across multiple systems

  • Improved balancing of loud sounds and overall audio levels

🏆 New Victory Scene for Speedrunners

After defeating the final boss, speedrunners are now given a moment to bask in their victory. A new post-boss scene displays your final time, giving you the chance to admire, screenshot, and share your run before the credits roll.

🕯 Hall of Remembrance

A new Hall of Remembrance has been added to the main menu.

This section displays your three fastest speedrun completions, along with the difficulty each run was completed on. Only the fastest three runs are preserved. The Hall unlocks after completing the game with Speedrun Mode enabled.

Thank you all for your patience, your feedback, and your continued support. The Deadlands wouldn’t be what it is without you.

See you in the Deadlands.
