The Dead Await: Prologue changes
We've been busy with finalizing and polishing all the features in Death Drive and we're happy to announce that we've finally reached the feature complete stage. All without sacrificing a single idea from our "cool to add features" list (and maybe even throwing in a few fresh ones).
So what does that mean? Mainly, now that we're past the headaches and suffering that usually come with the engine side of things, we're ready to unleash our full creativity on all the new content! 💪
We'll share most of our recent progress in this devlog without spoiling too much!
Event & Action System
We've added a new feature that can be triggered by using cubes, through scripted quests or as random events. As you might have guessed by the name, the Event & Action system is basically a triggered event, that gives the player several choices affecting the outcome depending on the player's decision.
Some choices will require specific skill levels, unlocked shared abilities, appropriate items, story progress or even sanity to continue.
There are 3 types of events that can occur during the gameplay:
Story event - Event only occurs during scripted quests and changes the outcome of the story depending on the player's choice.
World event - A type of event that is also scripted and is triggered only once that is tied to the world in Death Drive and its surroundings.
Random event - A repeatable event type that is randomly triggered throughout the gameplay.
Outcomes of certain events will affect the overall story and settlement's future. While some random events will grant player extra loot and bonuses. Though, if you're not well prepared some outcomes will result in traumas, loss of sanity and in some cases death. 💀
Finalized Item Types
We've now finalized all the item types and as we mentioned before in our previous devlogs we really want to tell a great story and invest you into the world of Death Drive.
One crucial item type that was missing before was inspectables such as notes, diaries or other similar items that tell their own stories. We also value your time and won't be filling such content with filler material, but rather only with interesting and useful content.

Zone 1
We’re also ready to share some of the key locations and settlements in Zone 1.
Sunny Village
Sunny Village was once a small, idyllic community nestled in a lush valley surrounded by rolling hills. The residents, mostly farmers and craftsmen, lived simple but happy lives, enjoying the beauty of nature and the company of their friends and neighbors. But all of that changed when the zombies came. Despite the constant threat of zombies, the people of Sunny Village have managed to maintain their way of life and their sense of community, determined to survive and thrive in this new, terrifying world.
Omega Military Base
Omega is a heavily fortified military base created by Force Nova, that was built for training soldiers to secure the city of Hope. The soldiers at Omega are known for their discipline, training, and combat skills. The base is equipped with advanced technology, weapons and vehicles, and is capable of withstanding prolonged sieges. The base is also self-sufficient and can survive for long periods without resupply.
Bazaar - Traders’ Settlement
A small city, where all the trading for food, armory, medical supplies and life essentials are happening. As the outbreak spread, Bazaar became a hub for all kinds of goods and services, as traders and merchants from all over came to barter and exchange goods. In the midst of all the chaos, Bazaar remained a place of order, a safe haven for anyone looking to trade and make a living. But the zombies were not the only threat to Bazaar, as raiders and bandits also saw the settlement as a prime target. The merchants and traders had to be constantly vigilant and they formed a powerful militia to protect their community. Therefore, not everyone can enter easily.
Devfronds - Woodlands of Devils
Devfronds, known as the Woodlands of Devils, is a dense and mysterious forest that has long been avoided by travelers and settlers. It is said that the woods are haunted by all manner of deadly creatures, including hordes of zombies.
The Mind Metropolis
The Mind Metropolis is a bustling center of innovation and progress, where the brightest minds and most ambitious young people, aka The ET (The Echoes of Tomorrow) have come together to actually find solutions to the zombie apocalypse without personal side agendas. The city is a melting pot of scientists, engineers, inventors, and researchers, all working tirelessly to uncover the secrets of the virus and develop new technologies to combat the zombies.
