MAJOR BUG FIX PATCH
First of all, I want to sincerely apologize for the rough demo launch and thank everyone who took the time to try the demo, report issues, and give feedback.
Over the last three days, I spent more than 52 hours working on fixes for the demo. As a solo developer, some of the more complex systems were not tested as thoroughly as they should have been before release, and that is fully on me. This launch taught me a lot, and I will make sure future releases go through much more testing before they go live.
A large patch is now available, fixing many of the issues reported since launch.
Audio volume has been reduced and rebalanced.
Fixed cases where the player could get stuck inside rooms.
Fixed cases where the player could get stuck inside vents.
Fixed vent interactions not working correctly.
Fixed some batteries not being pickable despite the UI appearing.
Added missing interaction UI to the second floor sleeping cabins.
Improved tutorial UI.
Added keybinding options in the settings for different keyboard layouts.
Reworked the ending cutscene.
Fixed an issue with the coded door.
Fixed several scripted actions not triggering correctly.
Fixed issues with the objective system.
Fixed a creature vent kill bug.
Reduced how easily physics objects alert the creature.
Added footstep audio that changes depending on the floor material.
Fixed several audio glitches.
Know Note
The creature kill animation system may still have rare issues in some cases. This system will receive a full rework for the full game.
Thank you again for sticking around and giving the demo a chance. I am doing everything I can to make The Dark Curiosity a strong horror experience, and this launch gave me a lot of important lessons for the future.
See you soon.
