New languages available

Hello everyone! Over the past few months we have been working on a major expansion of the languages available in The Crazy Hyper-Dungeon Chronicles. The game was originally written in Italian, and from the start it was also available in English, Russian, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese and Japanese, professionally translated from the original text. We have now added a new group of languages:

  • French

  • Spanish

  • German

  • Brazilian Portuguese

  • Polish

  • Turkish

  • Latin

Yes, Latin too. It is a small easter egg, but we like to think it may finally give students an unbeatable excuse: "I am not playing, I am revising the third declension inside a dungeon full of questionable monsters".

We started with these languages because they were the ones most often requested across forums, Discord, private messages and community discussions. We do not see this as the finish line: if the project keeps receiving support, we would love to add more languages in the future.

How these translations were made

We want to be very clear

these new languages were created through an AI-assisted translation process. They are beta versions, and we do not want to present them as complete professional localizations. We are a small team, and the game contains a lot of dialogue, jokes, descriptions, references and fantasy absurdities. Translating everything professionally into so many languages was not sustainable for us at this stage, but we still wanted to make the game more accessible. At the same time, it felt like a shame to leave so many players with no way to enjoy the game in their own language.

So we chose a middle path

creating a first playable and understandable version, being clear about its limits and opening it up to progressive improvement.

What you can expect

The new translations should let you play, understand the interface, follow the dialogues and go through the adventure without needing to know Italian or English. That said, there may be:

  • slightly strange sentences

  • jokes that work less well than intended

  • wordplay that is hard to translate

  • fantasy terms that are not quite perfect

  • mistakes or questionable choices in some lines

We have already performed technical checks on the texts to avoid problems with variables, tags, formatting and the game's special structures. Some parts have also received an initial read-through during the process, but we know very well that this does not replace a true professional review or the contribution of native-speaking players.

The role of the community

These localizations are intended as betas open to community contributions. From the game, it will be possible to access the Google Sheets for the new languages directly. Each sheet contains the translated texts and lets you suggest corrections, improvements or more natural alternatives. If you play in one of these languages and find an error, an unnatural sentence, a joke that no longer works or simply something you think could be improved, your help will be precious. Community suggestions will not be applied automatically. We will check them before integrating them, to avoid accidental mistakes, out-of-context changes, shifts in meaning or edits that could damage the tone of the game. Anyone who makes a significant contribution to improving the translations may be added to the game's credits.

A note about professional translators

AI does not replace professional translators. Professional localization remains the best level of quality, especially for a game like this, where tone, jokes and dialogue rhythm are fundamental. This choice comes from a real budget limitation and from the desire to make the game more accessible. If the game does well enough, we would like to reinvest part of the revenue into professional reviews too, giving priority to the languages that need it most. Thank you all for your support, your patience and any suggestions you may want to send us. The Crazy Hyper-Dungeon Chronicles is already a pretty wild dungeon on its own. Making it understandable in more languages without completely breaking its brain will be an adventure inside the adventure.
