changedThe Count of Monte Carlo is now Steam Deck verified!Yes, nearly six years after release Steam's hardware review process has swung around to this humble blackjack game. I guess this is as good a time as any to hallucinate that you, the reader, are asking me questions and to answer those questions in turn. Q: Why did you submit it for review? A: I did not or I don't believe I did. If I did, it was so long ago that I cannot even remember. I remember applying for a developer Steam Deck on the off-chance I would get one (I did not), but I don't think that required submitting a game.
addedThe Count of Monte Carlo is now Steam Deck verified!Q: So it plays well on the Steam Deck? A: That's what the review process says, but I have no way to personally verify. The only noted hiccup was that the game's resolution could not be changed, however I remember coding TCoMC to resize while maintaining aspect ratio so hopefully that's not too much of an issue. Q: Are we getting new developments for TCoMC? A: Hahahahaha No. TCoMC may have initially been dreamed up as a much more ambitious (and better looking) game, but I'm not the kind to go in and thrash a game around with updates. I would love to try at those ideas again, but it would be in a form almost unrecognizable to what TCoMC was made into. Q: It's been a long time, where have you been? A: TCoMC was developed on the side in the latter years of me working with Red Moon Workshop on Shot One: Universal League (unreleased). You may have seen their new game, Shot One Fighters, in recent announcements.

Well I'm not on that one, but I do hope people enjoy it since it takes a lot from the sports version of the game that I worked on (you can find a few remaining videos of it on the internet). In early 2022, I had to leave the company and work various web development jobs to stay afloat and then late last year I exited those positions. I'm afloat for a bit longer, so maybe it's time for more game development. Q: So what's next? A: I have some ideas but I don't want to share too much due to how often I scrap projects. I've been playing around with some more 'interactive fiction'-y kinda stuff during game jams, so that may be the direction I'm going. I doubt many people have read this far, so if my next game has any sort of password input or text input then the secret passcode will be 'SCHEHERAZADE'. I'll have it do some fun stuff :) Alright, that's it for now. I hope I can have some real announcements for you in the future!
