The Chess Variants Club changes

addedWe've just released an update (v0.1.12) introducing a new variant: Aleut Chess

Hi, thanks to everyone for playing The Chess Variants Club.

We've just released an update (v0.1.12) introducing a new variant: Aleut Chess

In the 1933 book "History, Ethnography and Anthropology of the Aleut", W. Jochelson reported a game played by the Aleut people, in Alaska. It had similarities with chess, probably adapted from the Russians, given the similar figure names. Peculiar features include a 7x8 board, and the initial setup of the pieces, with starting positions different for white and black. The variant was implemented based on these reports.
