changedIn this progress update I want to first talk about the networking route that has been taken, the game will feature Epic Online Services as it's main way to connect players, there's many benefits to this choice, such as cross platform, secure servers & Anti-Cheat.
addedAt this point in time I am not sure if account linking will be enabled or not, There's a few benefits to account linking that makes the backend a little easier to use, however it can also just use your Steam account as a login with no linking and you'll play as normal like if EOS wasn't apart of the game.
addedHowever, EOS is here to stay and will be the new way to connect players.
addedCombatSo a little bit about combat and what's been done with this, The combat system is more in depth in terms of hit locations and bleed, locations like the head will do more damage, areas like the rear end or legs will do less damage, this also changes how bleed will work, bleed is based on chance, not every hit will cause bleed, but aiming for vital areas like the throat can increase your chances of making the other player bleed by 30% this adds more strategy and realism to the combat system.
changedCombatEach blood patch you see on the cougars neck and face is a bite location, instead of scars or other means of showing damage we've opted to use true hit locations which could possibly heal into scars and reflect your characters fights and struggles.
changedCombatSome more of the week will be spent on setting up EOS fully and logging into development servers and streamlining the whole thing to make it as easy as possible to connect and play.

Hello everyone,

In this progress update I want to first talk about the networking route that has been taken, the game will feature Epic Online Services as it's main way to connect players, there's many benefits to this choice, such as cross platform, secure servers & Anti-Cheat.

At this point in time I am not sure if account linking will be enabled or not, There's a few benefits to account linking that makes the backend a little easier to use, however it can also just use your Steam account as a login with no linking and you'll play as normal like if EOS wasn't apart of the game.

However, EOS is here to stay and will be the new way to connect players.

Combat

So a little bit about combat and what's been done with this, The combat system is more in depth in terms of hit locations and bleed, locations like the head will do more damage, areas like the rear end or legs will do less damage, this also changes how bleed will work, bleed is based on chance, not every hit will cause bleed, but aiming for vital areas like the throat can increase your chances of making the other player bleed by 30% this adds more strategy and realism to the combat system.

Each blood patch you see on the cougars neck and face is a bite location, instead of scars or other means of showing damage we've opted to use true hit locations which could possibly heal into scars and reflect your characters fights and struggles.

Some more of the week will be spent on setting up EOS fully and logging into development servers and streamlining the whole thing to make it as easy as possible to connect and play.

During this week I've done the combat, EOS and setting up the player stats such as health, thirst & hunger, which all three of those are in place and fully working, along with the bleed system. Did some work

Aggressive Stance

We also are going to be using new animations to help better express the Cougar's mood and compliment the calls

That's it for this devlog, I will see you next week
