addedAlong the way, a lot of improvements were made to the original game as a result of porting the game to a new engine. An overhaul to the UI, a new hint system, 13 new localizations, readability and save improvements, and dozens more quality-of-life changes make The Case of the Golden Idol a much more seamless and enjoyable experience to play, especially on Steam Deck.
changedSteamAfter this update is live, players will receive a prompt when launching the game asking which version they wish to play - The original version as it is currently, or the Redux release which includes the improvements made above. Additionally, you can transfer your progress from the original to the Redux version, so detectives can pick up after the last case that has been completed.
addedConsoleThe Nintendo Switch version of the game will be delisted and no longer available for purchase on October 9, and replaced with this new Redux rerelease. A lot has happened since the original release of The Case of the Golden Idol back in 2022. Outside of two DLC expansions, we released home console ports on Xbox Series, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch. Additionally, through our partnership with Netflix, we brought all available Golden Idol content to mobile devices.

Along the way, a lot of improvements were made to the original game as a result of porting the game to a new engine. An overhaul to the UI, a new hint system, 13 new localizations, readability and save improvements, and dozens more quality-of-life changes make The Case of the Golden Idol a much more seamless and enjoyable experience to play, especially on Steam Deck.

In the spirit of making sure every version of The Case of the Golden Idol is the definitive version to play, on October 10 we will ship a free update that will provide all of these enhancements to the original Golden Idol experience on Steam. All owners of The Case of the Golden Idol will receive the Redux version completely free of charge, and will be included in all future purchases of the game.
