  • Gameplay

changedAs a Korean team, our top priority was "to accurately recreate a Korean alleyway." We integrated familiar actions—using a smartphone camera, texting, taking photos—directly into the gameplay. The specific noises, the presence, and the heavy silence of an alley that every Korean knows... We meticulously designed these details to make players question: "This looks like the alley I know, but why does it feel so wrong?"
changedWe may be a small studio, but we were relentless in pursuing the fine details of fear. We present to you the result of our serious exploration into the fear created by the 'uncanniness' overlaid on reality. From screen reflections on the smartphone and flickering streetlights to the pattern of footsteps and ambient noise— We iterated countless times to ensure that even the smallest elements maintain your tension and immersion.

Today, we are thrilled to unveil our project, 《The Alley》, to you for the very first time.

Looking back from the moment we started this project until now, we asked ourselves:

"Why did we embark on this journey?"

For us, the answer came down to one word: uncanniness.

Horror games often rely on unfamiliar settings or imaginary monsters to build atmosphere.

But we believe true terror lies closer to home—in those moments when a familiar space suddenly feels alien. The walk home late at night. A dark, quiet alleyway. The eerie sensation that someone is watching you, even in a place you know so well. We wanted to capture that exact feeling of "strangeness within the mundane."

As a Korean team, our top priority was "to accurately recreate a Korean alleyway." We integrated familiar actions—using a smartphone camera, texting, taking photos—directly into the gameplay. The specific noises, the presence, and the heavy silence of an alley that every Korean knows... We meticulously designed these details to make players question: "This looks like the alley I know, but why does it feel so wrong?"

For those who are not Korean, we believe this will offer a unique atmosphere distinct from typical horror games, serving as a window into the deep-seated sentiments of Korean culture. 《The Alley》 is not about jump scares. It is a game designed to deliver a horror where you must judge and observe to move forward. To escape this alley, you don't need courage; you need "a discerning eye."

Not all phenomena you encounter here are supernatural. While there are impossible anomalies, they are mixed with realistic pranks or natural occurrences.

The problem is, if you fail to distinguish between them, the ghost finds a crack to enter.

Players must raise their smartphones, capture entities visible only through the lens, and decide:

"Is this physically possible?" or "Is this generally impossible?"A total of 68 types of anomalies will test your judgment.

The essence of horror isn't a sudden loud noise—it's the psychological uncertainty that makes you whisper, "Wait… was that actually possible?"

We may be a small studio, but we were relentless in pursuing the fine details of fear.

Designing a narrow space with high density to create intense psychological pressure— This is the "Korean style of horror" our team pursues.《The Alley》 is the culmination of that experiment and clearly demonstrates the direction of horror we aim to create.

That is all for today’s introduction. Starting next time, we will dive deeper into the details. Dev logs, Art Direction, System explanations, and the backstory behind each anomaly— We plan to share these updates regularly.

If 《The Alley》 has intrigued you, please add it to your Wishlist. Your single click is a huge support for our small team.

Thank you.
