Patch Notes: 13.03 to 18.02

It's been a little while since my last proper patch notes update. Each update to The 52 Fragments often includes unseen bug fixes, however update 18.2 has quite a few. I am consolidating all of the patch notes from 13.

It's been a little while since my last proper patch notes update. Each update to The 52 Fragments often includes unseen bug fixes, however update 18.2 has quite a few. I am consolidating all of the patch notes from 13.03 to current.

Bugs

  • Fixed a bug where returning to the main menu will lock the cursor.

  • Fixed several issues with rendering realtime lights, particularly pixel lights.

  • Fixed a bug where the 13th fragment would not detect a CD drive properly. A related bug where the game would not detect a floppy drive correctly on some hardware architecture is currently determined to be unfixable due to limitations of the ManagementObjectSearcher in System.Management, a part of .NET.

  • Made the "dark" version of Fragment 16 about 15% sadder.

  • Fixed a bug which would cause the first window in the 13th fragment to not spawn.

  • Fixed a bug where the Speed of Light object in Fragment 11 would fling the player into the void (which was pretty hilarious, tbh)

  • Fixed a bug regarding file parsing in Fragment 03.

  • Fixed a bug causing gimbal lock in Fragment 10.

  • Fixed a couple of sound bugs.

Content

  • Added and removed many objects across multiple fragments as a result of ███ █████.

  • Added easter eggs, including one specific to the youtuber Shesez, who is nonetheless unlikely to play my game.

  • Removed Fragment 14 in its entirety based on the cumulative votes of participants of the phone survey in Fragment 12.

  • Implemented multiple secret 'codes' into Fragment 4 which have various effects, such as code 081026.

Framework changes

  • Re-implemented Mono backend from IL2CPP in order to allow System.Management to function properly, as, per Unity, "IL2CPP does not support System.Configuration.ConfigurationManager".

  • Major changes to the character controller set to allow for more types of controllers to interface with it and, hopefully, provide full controller support soon.

Some small metrics

  • The Computer in Fragment 02 has been dealt a cumulative 7,314 units of pain.

  • 6,322 proposals have been approved, and 5,981 have been rejected.

  • Players have traveled a cumulative 1.2 trillion kilometers in Fragment 11.

  • During the phone survey portion of Fragment 12, I personally received 48 phone calls.

  • The most common fear as reported by players is 'spiders', followed closely by 'being alone'.
