Steam Deck Improvements
Improved Steam Deck Detection: The game now uses the official Steam API (isSteamRunningOnSteamDeck()) to reliably detect Steam Deck hardware, rather than guessing based on screen resolution. This means docked Deck users (playing on a TV at 1080p) are correctly identified, and desktop users with a 1280x800 window are no longer falsely treated as Deck.
Removed Gamepad Prompt on Steam Deck: Steam Deck users will no longer be asked to choose between "Use Gamepad" or "Use Keyboard/Mouse" on first launch. The game automatically defaults to gamepad mode on Deck and remembers this preference permanently.
Fixed Aspect Ratio Distortion: Resolved a subtle vertical stretch that occurred on Steam Deck's 16:10 display (1280x800). The game now uses expand stretch mode, which shows slightly more of the world vertically without any distortion or letterboxing, while preserving the designed look on standard 16:9 monitors.
UI Scaling Consistency
Fixed unscaled UI elements: The following menus and panels now properly scale with the global UI Scale setting (previously they were unaffected by the UI Scale slider in Options): Moon Shop Inventory Bill's Dialogue Window Foras's Dialogue Window Bill's Shop Foras's Shop Factory UI Upgrade Wheel Boss Achievement Notifications Game Over Summary Run Boost Picker (already had partial scaling) Character Hub Tutorial Overlay Readability Improvements
Increased minimum font sizes across several UI elements for better readability on smaller screens:
Upgrade Wheel: Tier labels and rarity meter title increased from 11-12px to 14px Deep Earth Shop: Row controls increased from 12-14px to 15-16px Run Boost Picker: Rarity labels increased from 11px to 14px Bill's Shop: Price breakdown text increased from 13px to 15px Reduced dialogue window minimum size: Bill's and Foras's dialogue windows no longer force a 1280x720 minimum size, which could cause layout issues on smaller viewports. Reduced to 1200x675 for better compatibility across resolutions.
Controller Navigation
Deep Earth Shop: All quantity controls (minus, plus, max, sell, quick-sell) are now navigable with a controller. Previously only the sell button per row was reachable via D-pad.
Minimap Zoom: Minimap zoom in/out now responds to the zoom_in and zoom_out input actions (R3/L3 on gamepad, +/- on keyboard), so controller users can zoom the minimap without needing mouse clicks.
Tutorial Overlay: The Skip button now automatically receives focus when using a gamepad, so controller users can easily skip tutorial steps without needing to tap the screen or use a mouse.
Tutorial Text
Tutorial instructions now use input-neutral language. "Click Main Menu" is now "Select Main Menu," and the drill selection step dynamically shows the correct controls based on whether you're using a controller or keyboard/mouse.
