changedThe demo has been rebuilt. If you tried Terrafactory before, a lot has changed. If you haven't yet, now is a good time.
changedExpeditions reworkedThe biggest design shift in this update. Previously, launching an expedition meant moving on and leaving a planet behind permanently. That created a tension that didn't feel right.
addedExpeditions reworkedNow when you travel to a new world, your previous planet keeps producing passively, and you can travel back to this planet later on. Your work compounds across the solar system instead of being abandoned.
addedGame fictionI also iterated on the overall game fiction. The planet core (the Catalyst), which enables you to create a planet from scratch is now visible. 8 different types of planets have been added with significant visuals distinctions. It now really feels like a journey through space. The research tree has been completely reworked.
addedSound and feelThe main theme has been replaced. Secondary tracks have been added. VFX and SFX are present throughout, and the UI now reacts to what's happening on screen.
changedSound and feelIf you played a previous version of the demo, it's worth starting fresh. The early game and first impression are meaningfully different.

The demo has been rebuilt.

If you tried Terrafactory before, a lot has changed. If you haven't yet, now is a good time.

Expeditions reworked

The biggest design shift in this update. Previously, launching an expedition meant moving on and leaving a planet behind permanently. That created a tension that didn't feel right.

Now when you travel to a new world, your previous planet keeps producing passively, and you can travel back to this planet later on. Your work compounds across the solar system instead of being abandoned.

Game fiction

I also iterated on the overall game fiction. The planet core (the Catalyst), which enables you to create a planet from scratch is now visible. 8 different types of planets have been added with significant visuals distinctions. It now really feels like a journey through space. The research tree has been completely reworked.

Visual overhaul

The game now clearly shows you what's happening instead of asking you to imagine it.

Sound and feel

The main theme has been replaced. Secondary tracks have been added. VFX and SFX are present throughout, and the UI now reacts to what's happening on screen.

If you played a previous version of the demo, it's worth starting fresh. The early game and first impression are meaningfully different.
