Ternion changes
Thank you for all the messages and suggestions during the Steam Next Fest! Some of you may have noticed that the demo was updated a couple of times to fix a few issues and implement some small requested features.
Now that the game has been released, the next small updates will focus on bug fixing, while I continue working on the main campaign. When the next big chunk of the campaign is completed, it will be released in a major update. I really hope you’ll pick the game back up to experience the next parts of the story!
Ugh, here comes another turn-based JRPG... There are way too many of them...
Yes... that's true, unfortunately. When I decided to make a turn-based JRPG, the only well-known games in the genre were the Final Fantasy series (the earlier games before FF15), the Persona series, and a few other titles like Ni No Kuni and Yakuza: Like a Dragon which, by coincidence, was released exactly when I started developing Ternion. It definitely wasn't a widespread genre at the time.
More recently, several new JRPGs have launched: Expedition 33, Metaphor: ReFantazio, and many more. I really hope Ternion’s gameplay is unique enough to offer a fresh experience to those who have already played many similar titles. I also hope to keep improving the gameplay and perhaps add some unique features inspired by tactical RPGs.
How will the game improve?
Alongside future story updates, I plan to improve combat animations, the game's graphics and environments, and, hopefully, add full voice acting. Right now, voice acting is only partially included and must be manually enabled from the options menu since it's incomplete. It's a complex goal, but one of the most important for me, as I believe it would greatly enhance the overall experience of the game.
Please give feedback!
I know the game has just launched, and that the graphics aren’t as detailed or realistic as they could be. Still, I really want to hear your suggestions on how to improve it. I was quite naive when I started, and with the experience I’ve gained, there are many things I would now do differently, starting with the art style. But I hope the game can still offer an enjoyable and pleasant experience for the players!
What is the "something extra"?
If you're a Unity developer, I also released a scripting tool on Unity's Asset Store, the same one I wrote and used to develop Ternion. I spent nearly a month improving it and making it as easy as possible to integrate with any Unity project. Honestly, I’m a bit jealous of it- it's so much better than the early version I used for Ternion, but it's so different that "upgrading" the game with it isn’t feasible.
This tool is what made it possible to develop Ternion with the limited time I had, and I truly hope it can help someone who wants to explore the world of story-driven game development. I’m sure you could use it to make something even better.
I didn’t create it to make money. I just believe it’s of high quality, and it’s been tested extensively throughout the development of a full game. I think it can really be useful. If you’d really like to use it but really can’t afford it, feel free to contact us, we’ll see if we can provide you with an activation key!
Have a good day and please enjoy our game! MGUB
