changedToday, I want to bring up a topic that has been on my mind for a while: a Linux build.
changedAs of now, the game is being developed primarily for Windows, and that has been the main focus. However, I know that a part of the community would love to see support for Linux, especially considering is the OS used by Steam Deck. The question is: How many of you would actually play it on Linux?
changedWhat Would a Linux Build Involve?Well... installing Linux: This is quite simple to do, but I don't currently have any device with a Linux distribution. I suppose I would start with SteamOS because is the one used by Steam Deck, but I may do a couple tests on Ubuntu as well.
changedWhat Would a Linux Build Involve?Testing and Compatibility: Every feature, every scene, every fight would need to be tested on Linux to ensure it runs properly. This unfortunately takes time.
changedWhat Would a Linux Build Involve?Performance Optimization: Even if the game runs, it needs to run well. That means tweaking settings, fixing platform-specific bugs, and making sure it plays smoothly.
changedWhat Would a Linux Build Involve?Support and Updates: If we commit to a Linux build, it wouldn’t just be a one-time thing. It means maintaining it, keeping it up to date with patches, and troubleshooting issues specific to the platform.

What Would a Linux Build Involve?

  • Well... installing Linux: This is quite simple to do, but I don't currently have any device with a Linux distribution. I suppose I would start with SteamOS because is the one used by Steam Deck, but I may do a couple tests on Ubuntu as well.

  • Testing and Compatibility: Every feature, every scene, every fight would need to be tested on Linux to ensure it runs properly. This unfortunately takes time.

  • Performance Optimization: Even if the game runs, it needs to run well. That means tweaking settings, fixing platform-specific bugs, and making sure it plays smoothly.

  • Support and Updates: If we commit to a Linux build, it wouldn’t just be a one-time thing. It means maintaining it, keeping it up to date with patches, and troubleshooting issues specific to the platform.

So, Will There Be a Linux Version?

Right now, I don’t want to make any promises. If there’s enough interest, I’ll seriously look into it! But if only a handful of players would use it, it might be more practical to focus on making the main release the best it can be, for the time being at least.

Your Input Matters!

If you’re a Linux user (or just think a Linux version is important), let me know in the comments! Your feedback will help decide if this is something worth investing time into.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts! 🚀
