This build is the first time we've brought our work from console porting back to Steam. Ideally there are not many noticeable changes other than improved performance, expanded settings, better text legibility on small screens, and bugfixes and usability upgrades.

  • Major upgrade of engine foundation

  • OpenGLCore --> Vulkan on Linux

  • OpenGLCore --> Metal on Mac

  • Rendering pipeline changes focused on optimization.

  • Many shaders have been rewritten for improved performance

  • Antialiasing and Vsync options added to settings menu

  • Change to how resolution and quality work. Resolution will set the monitor resolution and is only available when fullscreen. Quality options for world rendering are still Crunchy or Creamy. Creamy renders at window resolution, with an optional downscaling %. Downscaled rendering is fuzzy/soft in Creamy mode. Creamy mode also allows for anti-aliasing up to 8x. Crunchy renders at (window resolution / crunchiness) where crunchiness can be 2, 4, 8.. Crunchy world rendering is pixelated / aliased.

  • You can now hold directional input to move multiple times in UI contexts (previously this was only implemented for combat map selection)

  • Some new controller glyphs have been added

  • Removed a handful of unused Unity services

  • Better handling of screen resizing in windowed mode

  • Respect for native resolutions of different monitors / devices

  • Fixes for mappings between world and ui space (which previously could break after window resizes) for things like cursor selection of world objects

  • Adjusted speed/distance of minor floating combat text

  • The game now detects Steam Big Picture Mode and removes the option to change fullscreen/windowed when in Big Picture (forces fullscreen)

  • The game now detects when launching on a Steamdeck and sets the screen to 1280x720 fullscreen

  • Some bug fixes I'm sure (it's been years since we did the console ports, I don't remember everything.. )

Please let me know if something goes wrong, either here or by email - hey@badru.graphics.

Thanks for playing! Oh and leave a review if you like the game! It helps :)
