addedWhen you play solo, you create your own little Downbelow world, and that creates a local server. You can enjoy Temtem: Pioneers offline, and your progress is stored on your computer (Steam Cloud will be enabled for Pioneers). It’s you, your Temtem, and the vast Downbelow. Play at your own pace and enjoy checking milestones and progressing in your adventure.
changedBut if you want to have up to 5 friends join you, you’re also in luck! You can turn your offline, solo server into a multiplayer server, and share its details with your friends so they can jump in. The co-op option always requires an internet connection to play it, and that goes for all of the co-op players. Anything you can do solo, you can do together! From exploring, to battling, to building. Your friends can be there every step of the way, and share the adventure with you.
changedYour local little world, or server, can be enjoyed for up to 6 players at the same time, including you. Any progress made in a player-hosted world is stored locally in the host’s computer, and is accessible to the rest of the players as long as the host is online. If someone else were to try that save file, it would contain all the info on that Downbelow world and any and all progress made by their players.
changedThis might prove a bit inconvenient at times, depending on how different your playing frequencies are, so you can opt to run an online dedicated server yourself on a laptop, minipc or a different computer. For your dedicated server to be online, that computer must be on and online at all times: during its offline times, players won't be able to access that server. You can also consider looking into a hosting platform, which doesn’t depend on any player being online. Instances hosted online can be private or public, so that’s entirely up to you!
changedThat's it for today's update, Tamers! If you want to start planning your co-op servers with friends and like-minded Tamers, we'd like to invite you to our Discord server , filled to the brim with cool people!
changedYou can still get Temtem: Pioneers as a lower price, along with a ton of goodies, at our Gamefound page !

Hi Tamers! Today we want to share more with you on the social aspects of Temtem: Pioneers, or, depending on how you feel that day, the lack thereof!

Let us preface this by saying that all of these features are in early development, and all their details are subject to change in the future. We’ll be able to share more solid and final info as we progress in the making of the game.

To start off with the facts, Temtem: Pioneers can be played in two main ways: solo and in co-op.

When you play solo, you create your own little Downbelow world, and that creates a local server. You can enjoy Temtem: Pioneers offline, and your progress is stored on your computer (Steam Cloud will be enabled for Pioneers). It’s you, your Temtem, and the vast Downbelow. Play at your own pace and enjoy checking milestones and progressing in your adventure.

But if you want to have up to 5 friends join you, you’re also in luck!

Your local little world, or server, can be enjoyed for up to 6 players at the same time, including you. Any progress made in a player-hosted world is stored locally in the host’s computer, and is accessible to the rest of the players as long as the host is online. If someone else were to try that save file, it would contain all the info on that Downbelow world and any and all progress made by their players.

This might prove a bit inconvenient at times, depending on how different your playing frequencies are, so you can opt to run an online dedicated server yourself on a laptop, minipc or a different computer. For your dedicated server to be online, that computer must be on and online at all times: during its offline times, players won't be able to access that server. You can also consider looking into a hosting platform, which doesn’t depend on any player being online. Instances hosted online can be private or public, so that’s entirely up to you!

Temtem’s permanently online nature was part of its core ideas since conceptualization, and it has its charms, but also its cons. Pioneers is a very different genre, and this time around we want you to always have the choice to play online or offline.

That's it for today's update, Tamers! If you want to start planning your co-op servers with friends and like-minded Tamers, we'd like to invite you to our Discord server , filled to the brim with cool people!

You can still get Temtem: Pioneers as a lower price, along with a ton of goodies, at our Gamefound page!

And if you can, add Temtem: Pioneers to your Steam wishlist! It's the next best thing after supporting the campaign :)
