Text Summary
this'll be a paraphrased summary of the video We generally call this thing we're making "Project Black". It initially started as a passion project inspired by the surge of retro shooters from around the year 2019.
While V1RAL had neat retro visuals and interesting ideas, it was self-admittedly very rough around the edges, the enemies felt practically useless, not to mention the complaints we got about the game's pixelization being much too intense. Then there was virtually no progress made on V1RAL in the year 2022, when it came time to return to this project it felt like we were missing the retro shooter train, but felt inspired by the way V1RAL's music corresponds to what was happening in-game, hence why we greatly shifted focus.
This is where the project evolved to become Tempo Punk, the art style has completely changed but at its core this is still V1RAL. We're using a lot of what we learned from our past development and made tons of improvements with a rhythm-based twist. As different as the game looks we believe that this is still V1RAL at its core, we've kept what worked about our previous iteration and improved upon it. Overall we're feeling confident with the switch to the rhythm genre and hope you'll stick around as we continue development!
