Developer Diaries #11 - Fox Form, Story & Portraits

We’ve missed you and are so happy to be back with our regular dev diaries!

After a short break over the festive period, we hit the ground running in the New year with lots of testing, polishing and the release of Content Update 2. It’s been a busy few months behind the scenes, with us focusing on improving performance, refining existing features and building plenty of new content for Update 1.0 release!

Since it’s been a little while since our last dev diary, we’ve got a lot to share this time around so get comfy, and let’s dive into what we’ve been working on! 🌸

🦊 Fox Transformation & Story

Let’s begin at a pivotal moment in your journey in Tales of Seikyu; mastering your Fox Transformation!

If you want to refresh your knowledge of the forms and how they look you can check out Dev Diary 9 where we shared concept art of the forms.

Once you’ll get your hands on the elusive Fox Transformation Scroll, it will add a whole fresh new layer to how you experience the world.

As a Fox you will gain the ability to charm different creatures around the world, that includes those normally hostile to you. And as you do they can even become a part of your ranching family you’ve created on your Farmhouse land. 🏡

📖 Story & Proposal Scene

We’ve cleaned up the progress in Tales of Seikyu a lot and made sure that things flow a lot more smoothly, including some updates to early game pacing and narrative clarity.

On top of this we’ve made some adjustments to your first few hours in Seikyu and re-shaped how the opening sequence plays out as you arrive with your sister Kon; your boat looks very different! 🛶

It is no secret that romance and dating will eventually lead to exclusivity in Tales of Seikyu, so we’re working on finessing and shaping the moment where you commit to another for the rest of your wonderfully magical lives. 💍

❄️Yuki-Onna Portraits

Content Update 2 saw the arrival of the beautiful Yuki-Onna yokai/spirit form. Her elegance is unmatched (maybe save for Miss Ama) and her abilities are very useful for navigating Seikyu by air and water.
