Today, we want to talk about one of the most important parts of Sword & Shield Simulator - the people living in its world.

The citizens of Danburg and beyond are far more than mere background figures. They offer forge contracts, steer your journey, and gradually unveil the mystery behind Richard’s missing father.

Recognizing their significance, we knew it was time to give many of them a fresh new look.

More Life, More Variety

Thanks to a new collection of character models, outfits, and accessories, Danburg’s citizens now radiate an even stronger medieval spirit.

You’ll meet:

  • tired workers marked by years of hard labor

  • well-dressed townsfolk

  • city guards

  • craftsmen carrying visible signs of their trade

The goal was simple: make the world feel more believable and immersive.

New Clothing Sets

We’ve introduced entirely new outfit meshes for our NPCs.

Male NPCs now include:

  • 15 body outfit variations

  • 9 pants and footwear variations

  • new headwear and additional accessories

Female NPCs now include:

  • 17 body outfit variations

  • 13 pants and footwear variations

  • brand new hairstyles and headwear

These additions promise to fill every city and settlement with a vibrant tapestry of visual diversity.

Performance Improvements

The new character meshes have also been optimized using a traditional LOD (Level of Detail) system instead of relying on Nanite.

Our aim: to reduce hardware requirements and open the door for even more players to enjoy a seamless adventure.

We’ve also started additional optimization work related to Nanite and Lumen systems — and we’ll talk more about that in future devlogs.
