SWAPMEAT changes
We took a short summer break, but before we clocked out we were deep in the meat grinder acting on everything you've been telling us since launch. Here's the honest rundown: what you flagged and what we did about it, a taste of what's next, and a thank-you to the folks who helped.
📋 Everything We've Patched Since Launch
Launch week — 1.0 Launch, Hotfix 1.0.1 & 1.02–1.03 (June 17)
Straight out of the gate we chased down the crashes — on launch, on save, and around the key-rebind menu. We repaired older save files where Carl quest progress could get stuck, and cleaned up main-menu button sizing and a batch of other UI snags.
Update 1.1.0 – 1.2.0 (June 18–22)
That maddening constant humming/buzzing some of you got in co-op? Tracked it down (it was hitching a ride on a certain barrier ability) and silenced it.
Stopped uncapped frame rates from hammering your GPU the moment you opened the game.
Added rebindable primary/secondary weapon keys, and a"Mark all as Read"button in the Codex.
Update 1.3.0 & 1.3.1 (June 23–25)
"The level-up screen jumped in mid-fight and I picked something random!"Fixed — no more accidental selections when the screen first pops up.
Combat feel: knockback cut 75% when you freeze enemies (so you can actually shatter them), Boombots now damage their own team, and Null's "starfall" hurts enemies too.
Null tuning: Null can now be staggered, and his Starfall gives you a beat longer to dodge.
Resources: better odds at higher-tier resources on lower difficulties, plus fixes for Zorpjets and Eyeclops melting your Harvester Nodes.
- Audioan overhaul to the voice system for cleaner, better-performing SFX, plus new Carl vocalizations.
Update 1.4.0 — Keep Your Meat (July 1) — the big one
You talked, this update listened:
Keep your meat: your meat now persists between planets, so you're not reset to default every hop.
Performance, everywhere: a major optimization pass (~15% lower CPU), an LOD pass across models and environments, big cuts to the frame hitches from memory churn, a 240 Hz option, and a load-screen frame limiter to kill GPU coil whine.
- Steam Deckfixed the lock-up when the Deck woke from sleep, plus stray "Disconnected" messages that could end a game — even in single-player.
- The Hunter timer & exploringreworked so Prime Directives grant noticeably more time and off-path objectives reward both time and power — you're no longer punished for exploring. Hunters never get banished, but can be pushed back from enrage.
Melee game feel: freeze-frames on staggered enemies, camera shake, and punchier hit VFX/SFX for that satisfying SMACK.
- Roster & balancea new AT-NT miniboss, a beefier Broadside rework, shrine health +30% with destroyable portals, the Gamble shrine removed, and a pass of weapon and elemental tuning.
Hotfix 1.5 (July 2)
Codex fixes:"Mark all read" no longer marks future unlocks as read, enemy entries now unlock when you first trade damage with a creature (not on planet spawn), and meat parts unlock on pickup.
Exploit squashed: the health-insurance event was handing out Hunter-timer relief — no more.
- Old savesfixed a removed item causing problems when loaded from an older save.
Audio: cleaned up hunter-voice and SFX mixing.
Hotfix 1.5.1 (July 14 — latest)
- Rangus Files you couldn't collectfixed file spots (and gather nodes) that had fallen out of reach, so 100% completion is possible again.
Achievements stuck at 0%:"After the Bad Dream" and "Ten Floors Below Heaven" now unlock properly — and if you already earned them, we've backfilled the credit.
Meat durability: bumped base durability (Head 100 / Legs 150 / Torso 200) so parts break in a staggered way instead of dropping your whole build at once.
Bosses that wouldn't stay down: the Pounding Fathers could survive at 0 HP and keep fighting — now properly defeated.
🔧 What's Cooking Next
Here's what's on the stove: a public roadmap coming soon, and we're starting down said road with today's 1.6.0 update, Throw A Wrench In It.
Check out the Grease Monkey torso to heal Harvester Nodes and Shrines, changes to the way shooting works, camera controls to set your follow distance, and more.
Look for the rest of the roadmap to drop by the end of the month!
🔍 Community Bug Hunters
A lot of the fixes above didn't come from us staring at the game... they came from you, in #bug-reports and #gameplay-feedback within our official Discord, often with repro steps, build numbers, and video. A few Squishies who helped us squash things this stretch:
@ottoway — pinned down the co-op humming/buzzing that was drilling through whole lobbies. Turned out to be a barrier ability; fixed.
@lunafuu — a genuinely great audio write-up that caught the ring-boss crowd noise drowning out everything else (plus a stack of other mix outliers). The crowd bug's fixed and the rest fed our audio pass.
@soulreaper2376 — spotted Null & Void getting stuck in their attack animations and an escape route out of their boss arena. Both patched. (That's two nickels.)
@.skyish — caught the Codex "New!" marker that refused to clear after you'd already checked your new entries — with a big assist from @cloudkracker, who flagged the same thing on Carl's rank-up quests.
@bfield0261 — reported the keybind conflict when rebinding to the 1 and 2 keys.
…and everyone else who's been dropping reports, clips, and ideas in the feedback channels. We read all of it. Keep 'em coming. 🥩
Go check out the new update and tell us what you think, then join us tomorrow for a developer livestream, 2pm PT!
