A small visual change that was important for me to make

This update includes a single change:

• I changed the spider cocoon texture in the cave with spiders.

Now, let me explain why I made this change:

I won’t sugarcoat it—after the game’s release in September 2024, I put out a couple of updates that addressed major issues in the game and completely neglected its further development, just letting it drift. That’s not how it should be done; that’s bad, and I understand that. I regret that it happened, but I had my reasons for doing so.

But back to the reason for the change. A few days ago, I was doing one of my favorite things: sitting on YouTube and watching a bunch of useless stuff. At one point, I came across a video of someone playing my game. After watching it, I checked the comments and saw this:

After that, I went to Google and found out that the image of the spider nest in my game is exactly the same as in Don't Starve.

I’m guilty on all counts, but I still have something to say. When I was looking for an image for the nest, I simply typed in the search query "PIXEL SPIDER NEST PICTURE," and the first image I saw was indeed that one.

Does this excuse me? Not at all. I should have researched where that image came from, whether it had copyrights, and whether I could use it in my game. But since I was rushing with development and had no prior experience in game creation, I just chose the easy and quick solution. Moving forward, I will be more diligent in checking the sources of the resources used in my game, acquiring licenses, or trying to create everything myself or by commission.

This is my first game, and I made a huge number of mistakes during its development and promotion, but in return, I gained a ton of experience and now have at least a bit of understanding of how to make games. I’m now starting work on my second game and hope that I won’t make a bunch of silly mistakes during its development like I did with Survival Story.
