Devlog 36 - Where to find loot

In Survival Games, loot is essential to your survival. In this post, I'll be covering the many different ways you can get your gear in Survival Games.

Wooden Chests These common chests have decent gear such as melee weapons or a gun. You can tell if one has been opened, so you don't have to run into danger to check.

Gold, Silver and Bronze Chests These ones have better gear, like a legendary sniper rifle. But you'll need to find Bronze, silver or Gold keys to open them. Lockpicks will also open these, but will take a long time, so be careful.

Timed Chests These rare beauties have similar contents to Gold chests. But they unlock at a specific time after you interact with them. If you find one, that's already counting down, there is probably someone nearby waiting…

Spawners You'll also find guns, ammo, food and crafting supplies just lying around in the wilderness or in houses. These come from spawners, which are randomly placed and have random contents.

Drop Pods These fall from the sky randomly, and hit the ground with a bang. They can contain anything, from legendary guns down to common foods. Don't let them hit you on the way down!

Trees and Forage Up in trees, you can find apples, voxel nuts and cherries! Hold down interact and the fruit will fall from the tree. There are others, so keep an eye out!

Cupboards, crates and Fridges Open the fridge, and you can get foods. There are also crates found in huts, and cupboards in houses. They take a moment to open, which can make you vulnerable.

Creatures Slaying creatures gives you items. Chickens, pigs, even wolves give you meat. Some will fight back, like the Boars! There are also monsters, like skeletons and zombies. These guys are tough, but will drop items like swords or crafting supplies.

Perks So there is a perk called "looter" that will give you extra stuff when you search chests. There are other perks that will also give you gear.

Other Players The best place to find awesome gear, is of course from other players. When they die, everything gets dropped into the world for you to scavenge.

Armed with this knowledge, you can get a lot more out of each game than those that don't know. So go ahead, and wreck some face with those shotgun shells everyone else overlooked!
