As a solo developer, I know that when a game’s Main Branch hasn’t seen an update in a while, it can sometimes look like the project has gone quiet, or worse. I want to officially reassure you: Survival Denied is very much alive, and development is happening every single day!
I have been heads(and hands)-down working on massive core overhauls. Instead of small patches and potentialy breaking the default branch, I’ve been rebuilding the game’s DNA over on the Public Beta Branch. If you haven't checked out the Beta recently, you’re essentially looking at a brand-new game.
If you want to play the absolute latest version of the game right now, the Beta branch is where you need to be.
What’s Cooking in the Beta Branch?
I have been listening to your feedback and watching how you play. The game has grown from a simple wave shooter into a massive, highly replayable Action Roguelite. Here is a sneak peek at what is currently live and being polished in the Beta:
- Visual & Technical OverhaulI’ve implemented updated shaders and a complete lighting pass. The atmosphere is moodier, the zombies have more variety, and the environments look better than ever.
- Performance OptimizationsBehind the scenes, I’ve done a vast amount of optimization. The game runs smoother, even with the updated visuals.
- 4 New Maps & Existing UpdatesOn top of 4 brand-new locations to survive in, I’ve updated the existing maps.
- 10 New Weapons & Overhauled UnlockingThe arsenal has expanded! I’ve added 10 new weapons and completely redesigned how you unlock and collect them, making the progression and gameplay feel more rewarding.
- New Perks & Power-upsMore ways to play, more ways to slay. I’ve added new random perks and massive temporary power-ups to keep every run fresh.
Ragdoll Physics: Zombies now react realistically to your shots. Ragdoll physics have been implemented for much more satisfying (and often hilarious) kills.
- New Onboarding & QoLI’ve added a new loading screen featuring handy tips, plus plenty of "on-boarding" helpers to guide you through the new mechanics.
Asymmetric VR Couch Co-op: You don't have to survive alone anymore! A friend can jump on your PC monitor (mouse & keyboard) to control a Support Drone. They can manage your perks, bank power-ups, and even deploy a heavy turret to cover you while you fight in VR.
- Roguelite Meta-ProgressionDeath isn't the end. 1% of your recent stat upgrades (perks) now permanently carry over between runs. Score also carries over unlocking new weapons as you play. The more you play, the stronger you become.
- Diegetic UI UpgradesKeep your eyes on the horde. Track threats with a new waist-level radar and check your vitals directly on your forearm.
- MoreZombie pathfinding has been updated (WIP), we have new sky and weather system, new content arrives weekly.
