The Day is Upon Us!
Today, after four years of development, Superstar Strategy (originally named Super Sol Standard) finally releases version 1.0.0 on Steam!
What to Expect
Superstar Strategy is a game about tactics and adaptability. Instead of grinding your party members in combat to gain EXP, you're rewarded for responding to situations and constantly turning the tide of the fight every turn! Use your unit's abilities to their full extent to gain the upper hand.
Tips and Tricks
There's a lot of depth to the combat system in Superstar Strategy, which opens a lot of opportunities for cool combos, but it also can be overwhelming to have so many options. Keep these tips in mind when making decisions to ensure you are empowered to your full potential.
Keep your AMR up
The Guard action gives every unit with AMR the abillity to recover 3 AMR, and receive a BLK bonus for the rest of the current round. The earlier you use this skill in a round, the more useful the bonus BLK will be. Perhaps try moving one of your tanks to the front and Guarding early to get the most out of that BLK bonus. If you run out of AMR and start taking HP damage, that will be much harder to recover!
Don't split the party
While it's tempting to send one unit off on its own quest, it will very likely get swarmed by multiple enemies and not be able to survive the trip back to the group. If you must send someone, mind your distance to enemy units and choose a party member that's very fast, or very tanky.
Combo your free actions
A HUGE way to get the most value in a turn for your units is to chain multiple Free Actions together. Use Boosters and Jumppads to move extra distance. Outflank (Cavalier) to weave through multiple units to gain a better position. Most items use Free Actions. Apply Venom (Lancer) before attack to reduce your opponent's counter-attack stat (RET). You can use an infinite amount of Free Actions in a single turn, so exploit this as much as you can!
Utilize chokepoints
Superstar Strategy is played on a grid, which means there's a limited amount of spaces a unit can stand and attack another when there are obstacles nearby.
Items do not carry over between missions
Use them or lose them! There's no point in hoarding items!
Unit progression unlocks abilities, not stats
Whenever a unit finishes a mission, they unlock 1 EXP to unlock a skill. Already maxed out? Bring your other party members to the battle and build them up!
Grab all the emblem badges
Emblems are not required to complete a mission, but they grant powerful enhancements to your forces. Some grant you a free item, others buff your stats, and others might even give you additional skills!
Attack at a range your opponent cannot counter-attack
Archers can't counter-attack at melee range. Orcs can't attack from a distance. Mages and Witches can attack at either range, but are pretty squishy, so attack at range when you can.
Lay traps under enemies that are exhausted
Traps are typically area-denial that enemies avoid rather than pure damage, BUT you can place a trap underneath the feet of an exhausted unit so that on the next round it triggers before they have a chance to move! BE CAREFUL; if they are not exhausted, they will just walk off of your trap before it triggers!
