addedReturned with some updates, I am pretty excited to share you some stuff that has happened in past months. A lot has happened in my private life that had me to step back from the development, take a break, refresh a bit and find a new approach to the game. In order to achieve the completion of the game, I had to focus on the things that would make this both a game that I can deliver and also a game I can say, it is fun, it is worth your time and money. During all this time I played games that inspire me, focusing on what feels good and trying to understand why. Also read and watched a lot of content related to game design, feeling way more confident that I can deliver something fun.
changedGame development means two things, coding and implementing the game (which includes art, music etc) and game design. Well, while I am super confident in my skills as a developer, same with art and music, I was not as confident in my skills as a game designer, after all I am doing this by myself, out of love of the craft of building game. Putting together a game is hard, but it is doable, you throw some art, some music, some sounds and some coding and you get a game, but it is not enough to get a fun experience, having learned that the hard way across all these years in the past, I realized I need to rethink my plan.
addedAfter diligently researching and learning about game design, made a new plan. This next months I will focus on adding all the skills that the crab will have. Here is a list of the skills that you will be able to unlock as you play through the world:
changedWater affinity (enabling the player to move with the same speed under water as on land)
changedLong arms (this is a funky one, but cannot drop it as an idea, it is exactly how it sounds)
changedWith these set in place I can then design the maps easier, but right now my focus is in making a fun crab to play with, and I start to have way and way more fun with it. I will return with updates, for now, below are some previews on what was made, remember a lot of planning was done to get this closer to completion. Please let me know what you think in the comments below.

Game development means two things, coding and implementing the game (which includes art, music etc) and game design.

After diligently researching and learning about game design, made a new plan. This next months I will focus on adding all the skills that the crab will have. Here is a list of the skills that you will be able to unlock as you play through the world:

  • Strong claws (this is the skill that makes you able to attack enemies, more of a lore entry)

  • Strong legs (this is also a lore entry, making the crab jump the "normal" amount of units)

  • Water affinity (enabling the player to move with the same speed under water as on land)

  • Dashing (this ability will enable you to move way faster and also jump further and across bigger gaps)

  • Fire claws (this will enable you to have a short ranged attack that you can discharge on a group of enemies)

  • Strong pinchers (this will enable you to grab on the wall and walk on the ceiling)

  • Strong arms (this will enable you to grab objects and enemies and throw them)

  • Long arms (this is a funky one, but cannot drop it as an idea, it is exactly how it sounds)

You can follow the development in here

With these set in place I can then design the maps easier, but right now my focus is in making a fun crab to play with, and I start to have way and way more fun with it. I will return with updates, for now, below are some previews on what was made, remember a lot of planning was done to get this closer to completion.
