Super Kittens Development Update – An Honest One

First, the important part: I’m aware the current 1.4 beta has serious issues. For some players, it’s not even properly playable anymore. That’s not something I’m okay with — especially for a game that’s meant to be warm, welcoming, and accessible.

Super Kittens has never been just another project to me. It’s something I’ve been building for over a decade, and it carries a lot of personal meaning. The heart of this game was shaped alongside my cat Rolly, who passed away in December 2024. That connection is a big part of why I care so much about getting this right.

Over the past year, development slowed due to a mix of life, grief, and major technical setbacks behind the scenes. After stepping away and coming back with fresh perspective, one thing became clear:

I don’t want to push updates that feel rushed, unstable, or disconnected from what Super Kittens is meant to be.

This game deserves better than that.

So here’s where things are going:

🐾 I’m not abandoning Super Kittens. This world still matters deeply to me, and I’m committed to moving it forward properly.

🛠 I’m reassessing the technical foundation. Rather than forcing patches through a broken workflow, I’m focusing on creating a more stable path so development can continue with clarity instead of constant setbacks.

✨ Quality over rushing fixes. I’d rather take the time to rebuild momentum the right way than ship updates that don’t live up to the care this game was built with.

💛 The heart of the game hasn’t changed. Super Kittens is still meant to be a cozy, joyful, family-friendly space adventure — something safe, gentle, and full of personality.

I know long silences are frustrating, especially if you’ve been following the project for years. If you’ve stuck around, sent kind messages, or even just kept the game installed, it genuinely means a lot.

If you haven’t picked up Super Kittens yet but like the idea of where it’s going, wishlisting the game really helps more than people realise. It makes a real difference for small projects like this.
